"Hesitate before judging other people based on their messy desks." ✊
"They are about our reactions to diversity, again and again.
This was an awesome book. A perfect read right after Underground Railroad. Thought provoking. Wish I had snapped some quotes.
This was so totally awesome. I only wish that I knew how Cora's story continues....
Awesome book with enough personal drama to keep me reading. Thanks @bookriot contributors for the heads up!!!😘
This is so creepy. I may never go hiking ever again. I just powered through it to see how it ended. Can't wait to get my hands on the others.
Diane Guerrero shines light on the unfairness of a damaged immigration policy. Her brave voice tells a familiar story for thousands of families which has been forgotten by those of us whose immigration stories are a part of history in this generation. A country of immigrants should stand together.
"You have value simply because you are here." OMG Diana Guerrero you shatter me.
"I'd get so attached to what I was reading that I'd switch my view.....I was carving out a belief system. An identity. A place......" Life long learning at its finest.

I admit I picked this up, because I heard about it on @bookriot and it sounded different from my regular reading. I truly enjoyed this/-- the dissection of what comes from surviving a disaster, the clear before and after, the human side, and how the media spins it.
I loved this. It kept the spirit alive. Didn't put it down all day.
I feel so at home in this book. Finally someone who understands me.
There is only so much I could take.

You have to reach far down to find that delightful slice of zen that comes only when you breathe deeply, your thighs burn, and your heart thunders.
I couldn't put it down. I will cry if this is the only book Helen Giltrow ever writes.
Marriage is a two sided coin. The past is each side and the marriage the edge. You can never see the other side fully, no matter how hard you try.
An interesting read.
