Someone must have donated a Harlequin collection to Salvation Army. I had my daughter help me search for all the Betty Neels. I have not read one of her books before, but have been wanting to for years. Bettys, which one first?! #bettyneels #harlequin #osrbc #romance #romantsy

Dragon I read a few of her books, I liked them as they were set in Holland and there was usually at least one character with a medical background. 5y
Christy2318 There‘s no such thing as a bad Betty! 5y

For anyone that found the Marie Kondo book grating, this book may be for you! It's short and sweet, gave me some solid ideas for tackling our clutter, and didn't make me feel like screaming like Kondo's book did. It also gave me permission to obtain some storage and candles from IKEA 😍

Apparently, I have taken listening to The Raven Cycle books on audio on as a part time job. 30 plus hours of listening in a week. I'm a mom to 2 teens. This is madness! It's a fun madness, though.

The Kiss Quotient | Helen Hoang
Panpan

I added Litsy back to my apps and want to start using it again. Imagine my surprise to see the last book I reviewed was The Hating Game, which I loved! Today I finished a similarly hyped book, The Kiss Quotient. I was really disappointed in this one. I was interested in a heroine that was not neurotypical, but I'm not a fan of "instant" love. I know I'm in the minority, but I didn't find their relationship that believable or interesting.

Reading_E Thank you for this review! The book was awful! And I got it from BOTM! I was so disappointed. The characters were flat, the plot was just terrible. I can not understand the hype behind this book... 6y

Believe the hype! This book is great. I like my books like I like my old movies; lots of smart dialogue. This one fits the bill!

The husband said it's about time I read some Pratchett. I *think* I'm choosing Night Watch.

RAR Sometimes re-reading Pratchett is the only solution. Which one did you go with? 7y
sparrow Neither! He wanted me to read Small Gods first. We had traded it away at some point, so I had to get another copy. It arrived today! 7y

Carry On | Rainbow Rowell
Pickpick

I turned off the wifi on my Paperwhite months ago so I could keep this title from the library. I just wasn't in the mood. Apparently, I'm still not. I've read all of Rainbow Rowell's other titles and loved them. This book is not doing it for me. It just makes me want to read Harry Potter again. Maybe I'll try again some other time.

sparrow I listened to it on audio last month and LOVED it! 5y

Princess Daisy | Judith Krantz

This magazine ad for Tabu fascinated me as a kid. There was a story in that picture and I spent a lot of time imagining what it might be. A few short years later, I used my babysitting money to buy my first romance, Princess Daisy. Romance lovers--born or made? #romantsy #osrbc #romance #myfirstromancenovel

EloisaJames Good question! I feel as if I was born, because I was fascinated with any kid book with anything resembling a romance. Though perhaps that was programmed by my parents reading through all the colored fairy books. 7y
celtichik I'll take Manhattan :) 7y
sparrow @EloisaJames I was the same way with fairy tales, which also explains why I enjoy your retellings so much! 7y
sarahmaclean Born, for sure! 7y
EloisaJames @sparrow that's awfully nice--thanks! 7y

This worked as a great read aloud. Yes, sometimes we got bogged down by names, but overall, a lot was learned and the kids found themselves recognizing historical references and content everywhere. Onward to History of the Medieval World: From the Conversion of Constantine to the First Crusade. #homeschool #historyrocks

So, I've decided there's too many other books I'd like to get to to spend so much time on Les Miserables. We are going to read The Hunchback of Notre Dame instead....but what next? #homeschool

Holy cats. The next classic lit read aloud with my teens. They may not still be teens by the time we finish! #homeschool #neverstopreadingaloud

TamarackTrail If you read one chapter a day, you can finish in a year. Not sure if Hugo designed the book to have 365 chapters for that reason or not. 7y
sparrow @TamarackTrail that is an excellent point. I did not check the actual chapter count. We may need to revisit. 7y

Loved this book! Two not so perfect people figuring themselves, and each other, out. My first Harlequin and first Superromance. Are they all like this? Picking up more by this author immediately. It didn't hurt my reading experience one bit that I pictured Wes as hot Detroit Tigers pitcher Daniel Norris (see pic) 💗 #romantsy #damagedhero #virginhero #mycatnip #harlequin #superromance

Slow day at work and I was looking for a quickie read. I think I found it in my Kindle purchases from last week. I've never read a Harlequin before. Their sale was just what I needed to give them a try. #harlequin #romantsy

I found the last third of this book kind of all over the place. I understand this was the author's debut and you can tell. I enjoyed the story, but wouldn't mind seeing what KMM could do with it now. #osrbc #romantsy #octoberreadofthemonth

"Because falcons are very sensitive and excitable creatures, my heart. They are known to suffer from headaches and all manner of human ailments, so sensitive are they".

Really?! Falcons can suffer from headaches? And I wonder why it always takes me so long to read a book. I have to stop and research in the middle of them. I haven't found the answer to this one yet.

LoriAnnBailey Love her Highlander books. ♡ 8y
