Part One of the book is named for Fantine, and we finally meet her just over 100 pages in! It‘s interesting to hear about her before she was Cosette‘s mother.

Wow! What did I just read in today‘s chapter?! That was like 6 pages of names and not a lot else! I recognized 5 or 6 really major ones from history, and 2 or 3 from this novel, but how many of the other 30 odd am I going to need going forward? Do you think I should bookmark this chapter and read it a bunch more times until it starts to make some kind of sense? Or do I just go forward and assume this is background I don‘t actually need? #LesMisCAD
Almost at the end of Book Second. How is your reading going? The end of today‘s chapter surprised me! I remembered the plot twist with the gendarmes, but not what happened after they left. I‘ve never seen an allusion in literature before to anyone except the devil buying souls! #LesMisCAD
If you‘re following along with our Les Mis chapter a day, I know we‘re only just getting to know Jean Valjean. Care for an interlude?
Randy Rainbow had released his first video of 2023, and the clusterfuck that was the Speaker vote(s) was just asking for this!

In the time that I‘ve read the first 50 pages of Les Mis, I‘ve also finished 6 books 😆
The first 14 days of #LesMisCAD acquaints us with the bishop who will play an important role in the life of a convict we haven‘t met yet up till this point!
Anyone who wants to join @MatchlessMarie and I is welcome to crack open a copy of Les Mis on Sunday for #LesMisCAD! We‘ll read a chapter each day in 2023 and finish up at the end of the year. Feel free to post with the hashtag if you‘re taking the plunge with us!
I‘ve been watching this YouTuber react to the 10th Anniversary Dream Concert as a first time watcher and it brings back great memories of my first intro to the story:👇🏻
I‘ve been reading Middlemarch throughout 2022 and will complete it this weekend; it was great to take it on in digestible chapters each week!
For 2023, I‘m considering tackling this beast. 365 chapters means daily reading, so I‘m a little intimidated. For those who have done this before, how did you fare?

#doublespin done! As Les Mis is 786467 pages long I‘ve broken it out into 5 chapter chunks… October‘s portion complete! Although #scarathlon has taught me I can fit in a short burst of reading before I start work, so I may continue reading a chapter of this a day so I don‘t lost momentum..
Had to share this one 😂 I'll never get over the pain that the unabridged version of Les Miserables can bring you xD
I finished! Yes I‘m bragging, for I do not have the humility of Jean Valjean. It truly is an incredible story of liberty, love, and what we go through to have both. I‘m better for reading it… but I can‘t recommend it unless you want to immerse yourself in this study. Time to watch the movie.

#OnThisDay in a fictional 1833, Marius Pontmercy married Cosette. "The day had been adorable." In the real 1833, it was the day Les Miserables author Victor Hugo began his affair with actress Juliette Drouet. They celebrated their anniversary together every year until her death in 1883. Don't worry too much about Hugo's wife Adele, she was having her own affair with critic Charles Saint-Beuve. Those wild and crazy French, eh? #HistoryGetsLIT
This is not an indictment on the book, but on me. I like Hugo's style okay, the plot was just developing too slow for where my mind is at today. I will place this on the shelf until I'm in a more appropriate frame of mind to take this on.
Three cheers for your commitment to completing this chunkster, Jill! Slow and steady wins the race -- and gets you to the end of a 1,400+-page book. 😉 Using Serial Reader is a great option to keep you on track -- thanks for sharing your strategy!

I can‘t believe I read the whole thing 😄
Parts of this I loved, although parts were just huh? So many chapters about the sewers in Paris. Overall a beautiful experience and something I looked forward to for 233 days.
Grateful for the Serial Reader app. I don‘t think I would have finished without it.

So close!
So I'm also challenging myself to read all the books I've had the longest in my possession. This one was next, but the book I had was a much shorter adaptation and I definitely want to read the real deal. And here it is. Help me. It's 1232 pages long.
I've also helped the book business, because all non essential stores are in lockdown, including bookstores. I'm looking forward to this read, one day.. 😬

My 2020 challenge was to read Les Miserables unabridged edition, 1 chapter a day for the year to finish the book. A few friends joined me on this journey. I finished tonight, 1 day early & checked this off my goal list. I don't think I could have done it any other way than 1 chapter a day. Did I love the book? Not in its entirety. But I absolutely loved sections of the book! I'd recommend this for reading but do it the chapter a day way 😁 #Goals
I DID IT 🇫🇷🤍📖
LES MISERABLES☑️
I didn‘t want to stop after today‘s section and read until the end!
Spending 2020 with this book has been a pure joy. This is the best literature I‘ve ever read in my entire life. Just wow.
I teared up and will weep when journaling about this last bit ...so beautiful 🇫🇷🏆🤍
