The narrative follows Rose‘s point of view and it is extremely engaging due to the realistic portrayal of her thoughts and her response to the situations that arise in her life. The characters are fascinating and provoking but also have their flaws and layers of personality that make them relatable. Love, friendship, family, life, death are recurrent themes in the novel and Mead‘s approach is honest and straightforward.

This is such a good novel! Although I must say that the movie surpassed it. Both are eerie and mysterious, unexpected, scary, and leave you thinking about destiny and the afterlife. Highly recommended 🖤

I love the illustrations in this book! And also the fact that Neil Gaiman's version of the fairytale is more raw and direct 🖤
