This book about an agoraphobic woman who witnessed something as she spies on her neighbors is a quick and entertaining thriller. I was able to spot most of the twists pretty quickly, but empathized with the narrator as she struggled with agoraphobia, depression, and guilt. I wish this book captivated me and surprised me more though.

I struggle with audiobooks—whether I am doing basic database stuff, walking, or crocheting I accidentally tune out. So I need books that are easy to follow, keep me interested, and have a narrator I don‘t even notice. This one hit all those points. Unreliable narrator, fast moving story, twists and turns—yes please! I don‘t usually read thrillers but I‘ll have to try more on audio! #thriller #audiobook

Stay away from spoilers on this one! Unfortunately, I saw a spoiler before I started reading, but there were enough twists & turns to keep me guessing! Anna Fox is agoraphobic; she‘s also a psychologist. From within the walls of her vast brownstone, she observes her neighbors & helps an online community of people like her. But when she sees too much & speaks out about it, she will need to overcome her fears to figure out what is real. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Bailedbailed

Bailing on books is always a tough thing to do, especially when so many accolades and hype surround them, but the main character in this one was unlikeable simply because she was boring. Relating to her personality and views was too difficult considering all of the resources and opportunities she had, and that this tale has been told before in a more intriguing way. Gave up around page 100.

I was looking forward to this book since so many people liked it. But I found it awful. The writing and the plot. A waste of time for me.

Started this one tonight. Only on Chapter 2, but thinking it‘s a modern adaptation of Rear Window.

allureofbeauty Basically is. But rear window is better lol 1mo
Ava_Black @allureofbeauty Yeah, about 40 pages in and not digging the main character too much anymore. Something about her complaining so much but being so privileged. And feel like the plot could be moving quicker. 1mo

WOW, what a ride. I flew through this book and guessed some of the twists, but not all of them.

The second half dragged a bit, but still an enjoyable read.

Going to finish “The Woman in the Window,” either tonight or tomorrow.

Afterwards, I‘ll start on “Now Entering Addamsville.” It‘s due back to the library this week and I‘m going to do my best to finish it by Saturday.

The cold front here in Colorado has finally moved out and now it feels like fall again.

Cinfhen Library due dates definitely help dictate reading goals 😊 1mo

#bookreport:

I didn‘t have time to finish “Imaginary Friend,” and returned it to the library.

I‘m 85% into “The Woman in the Window.” I‘m surprised how much I‘m enjoying it. Short chapters, an unreliable narrator and an overall sense of dread has made this a fast read so far.

We did up having one early closure and one delayed opening this week=extra reading time!

Cinfhen Snow days??!?! Wow!!! 1mo
sheffner @Cinfhen We usually get snow in Colorado around Halloween, but this cold front (four days of temperatures in the teens and single digits, ice, and seven inches of snow) took everyone by surprise. 😰 1mo

Starting this psychological thriller this morning before work. Thrillers are usually fast reads for me, and this one has been on my TBR. To meet my goal, I have 8 more books to read before the end of the year. This is a busy time of year, so it‘s going to be a challenge. ❤️📚

I stayed up until midnight one night to finish this book! It was a work night too, ha! I just had to know what happened and how it ended. This was definitely a page turner, although it picked up in the second half of the book. There were some elements I really liked, and others that I did not, so overall it was a 3 ⭐️ book for me. I thought the writing was great and witty, but I think other books have done the unreliable narrator better.

Love this idea! My #weeklyforecast:

I ended up putting aside “No Judgements” for now—I love Meg Cabot, but couldn‘t get into this one, even at 50% in.

Started “The Woman in the Window” this afternoon and might try “Imaginary Friend” later in the week. It‘s over 700 pages and due in a few days, so if I can‘t get right into it, I‘ll put it on hold again.

It‘s supposed to be cold and snowy all week: here‘s hoping for a snow day!

Cinfhen Hahaha!!! I actually LOVE that you included a weather forecast too!!!!! That‘s brilliant 😜💕📚 1mo

I was almost about to bail out on this book. It seemed too stretched out, Anna‘s delusions, her drinking problem and getting high on her medications.. it was getting mundane.. I actually felt like I was drunk reading the book (the amount she drinks) 🤪. Then when the obvious happen (predictable that she hallucinates speaking to her dead daughter and husband all the while till 60% of the book), I knew that not all will be April Fool‘s day from here

BGam I loved it for its positive and beautiful ending.. not all went in vain reading this book or else I would have been under the delusion that I had finished reading this book in one sitting 😆 2mo
Bklover I got really irritated with her as I remember. All the never ending drinking. 2mo
BGam 😁 yes Bklover it was very irritating the initial atleast 50-60% .. the author didn‘t have to stretch it too much.. could have finished the book within 250 pages instead of some 400 odd pages... if he had done away with a lot of unnecessary mind mumblings and self talking 🤯 2mo

What I Loved: An unreliable narrator.
How I Felt: So much hype. I started it and enjoyed the style, but then, it slowed down and I just wanted to GET ON WITH IT. At chapter 35 the book woke up!
Read or Not Read: Thriller/Mystery/Suspense lovers
Anna is agoraphobic. She chats online & watches neighbors. Something happens across the street. She knows isn't right and must do something, but no one believes her. What will Anna do?

Whew chile, talk about a book that drags. I just couldn‘t do it with this one. Did anyone else have trouble reading this? I feel like the boring build-up led to an even more boring ending. I really wanted to like this book. However, halfway through it, I wanted to give up. But, I didn‘t because I was invested & dedicated. I will admit to being super picky about thrillers. That said, I found a lot of things in this book nonsensical and unbelievable. And can I read one thriller with a sober, mentally stable heroine??

Still it was an easy, interesting read. 3⭐️

#botmbacklog #bfcr3 #bfc #goteam @wanderinglynn @Emilymdxn (I‘m a gaining on you 😉😉) book 6/28

Bette I really wanted a stable, sober heroine too. It can be such a cop out in order to blur things. 😐 4mo
Megabooks @Bette 100% agree! 4mo
Emilymdxn I get frustrated with the exact same things about thrillers so much - it‘s such a pity when I CAN really love thrillers when they‘re well done but it hasn‘t happened to me recently. And you‘ve read so much! I better get reading in case you catch me 4mo
See All 8 Comments
Megabooks @Emilymdxn I‘m a bit weird in that sometimes I enjoy these mediocre thrillers more than the ratings would make it seem. Like I think even if it‘s a big, popular book, I find it fun trash. Does that sound weird?? About to finish one! Keep reading!! (edited) 4mo
plemmdog The author has also had his share of controversy, including allegations of plagiarism 4mo

Because of everything I have learned about this author during the past year, I was conflicted about reading this book;; how can you enjoy something that has been created by someone you don‘t respect? However, the book was a great mystery with an unreliable narrator, flawed characters, and an unexpected twist at the end. It kept me up most of the night!

I have no respect for the author at all after all I learned about him in the past few months (he should write an autobiography!), but I did like this book. It‘s a solid thriller with an unreliable narrator who has agoraphobia, and it kept me reading half the night.
