Me Before You
Me Before You | Jojo Moyes
Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick. What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane. Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that. What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time.

I have been trying to break out of an extended reading slump so I thought I‘d read something I normally wouldn‘t pick up. I flew through this in a couple of days and enjoyed it more than I expected. I don‘t plan on reading the other books in this series, but this one was a good read. The subject matter is heartbreaking, but the characters drew me in, and even though I knew how it ended I kept wanting to read to see how it was dealt with.

LaurenELovesToRead The reading Queenie if you want to break out of a reading slump! 1mo

Anyone else read more than one book at a time? I‘m reading Mill On The Floss on my Kindle whilst I travel to and from work. I‘m reading Me Before You in the break room at work and War Of The Worlds at home 🏠

dariazeoli I almost always read multiple books at once! 👍🏻 5mo
Ycart85 @dariazeoli I like having a choice depending on my mood 🤪 I really struggled with my last read and if I didn‘t break it up with other books I don‘t think I‘d have finished it 5mo
ImperfectCJ I love reading several books at once. So often I see parallels between seemingly unrelated books that brings a different perspective, especially when reading classics alongside contemporary books, like you are. Very interesting combo you have going there! 5mo

Ycart85 @ImperfectCJ both War of the Worlds and Mill on the Floss are on my 100 books scratch off poster. I often find the language in the older classics quite hard going so I like to break it up with a more modern, lighter read. 5mo

To the amusement of visitors, my living room shelves change every 4-6 weeks as the books display the colors of the season. Here‘s the #RealRed shelf from my current red, white, and blue theme. It‘s entertaining for me as an excuse to review, touch, and pull books from the library walls in my reading room. I tagged the book whose title makes me smile whenever I think of the series.

marleed @ErinSueGreads @Slajaunie @RachelO @Cailey_Mac Oh thank you, I moved from a big suburb house to a cool inner city apt. I learned I like small spaces. So now I own an old city home 1/3 the size of the newly built suburb house. That meant donating piles of stuff! So books are now my only shelf decor and it‘s fun! 5mo

#30JuneBooks - Made You Cry: I‘ll never reread this book and I‘ll probably never watch the movie. This story was heartbreaking especially as you try to experience it from every viewpoint. I understood the Mother‘s pain. I felt Louisa‘s hope. I got William‘s decision. I cried oceans of tears.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just 4/5⭐ because although I did like this book, it didn't quite draw me in the way The Fault in Our Stars did.

theresidentromantic This one for me was 50% movie, 50% book. Emilia Clarke is much more loveable as the main character in the movie, but the length and care intensive relationship is better in the book to me. 6mo
micamaldita @theresidentromantic I haven't seen the movie yet, just the trailer, but she does seem lovable and as funny as she is in the book :) 6mo

A pick for book club. I wasn‘t expecting to like it as much as I did, as I don‘t normally care for romance novels. It was definitely difficult and thought provoking reading. However, I seem to be really bothered by Louisa‘s parents‘ and sister‘s low expectations for her and the way they speak to her throughout the book, until the ending.

Wow... I'd never expected it to be so good. The first half of the novel seemed rather boring to me, but then it turned into such a rollercoaster of emotions that I was practically trembling from excitement (or anxiety). Definitely worth reading. I wonder if the sequel is as good. #MeBeforeYou #JojoMoyes

Such a unique love story, loved the development of the relationship between the main characters. Definitely a tear jerker, and also deals with a hot topic in modern day healthcare these days, which was interesting. A little slow in the beginning, but I pretty quickly got hooked!
