In 1814, the Congress of Vienna has just begun. Diplomats battle over a new map of Europe, actors vie for a chance at glory, and aristocrats and royals from across the continent come together to celebrate the downfall of Napoleonamong them Lady Caroline Wyndham, a wealthy English widow. But Caroline has a secret: she was born Karolina Vogl, daughter of a radical Viennese printer. When her father was arrested by the secret police, Caroline's childhood was stolen from her by dark alchemy. Under a new name and nationality, she returns to Vienna determined to save her father even if she has to resort to the same alchemy that nearly broke her before. But she isnt expecting to meet her father's old apprentice, Michael Steinhller, now a charming con man in the middle of his riskiest scheme ever. The sinister forces that shattered Caroline's childhood still rule Vienna behind a glittering faade of balls and salons, Michaels plan is fraught with danger, and both of their disguises are more fragile than they realize. What price will they pay to the darkness if either of them is to survive? From the Trade Paperback edition.

#bookanddessert and #bookandtea!🍰🍵 Key lime pie, black tea and my latest book purchase. I one clicked this one based on a review that Ilona Andrews posted on her blog. Also happy to buy books by Stephanie Burgis because she's a lovely lady! I already have several of her books, just need to find time to read them.

This title isn't on Litsy yet so I'm tagging a different one.

Desha Beautiful...key lime...my favorite☺️ 8y
Chachic @Desha Actually, I only tried it because the cafe said that's their bestseller.😂 I'm more a fan of chocolate or cheesecake. 8y

Pickpick

What a pleasant surprise this book was! It's a historical fiction novel with slight fantasy twists set during (and in) The Congress of Vienna!

I can't tell you how excited I was to read a book set in Vienna, after the Napoleonic war. It was such a fun read too, I would highly recommend it 👌😄

Chachic I have this on my wishlist! I have a couple of her other titles in my TBR pile and I need to get to them first. 8y
thefictionalreader @Chachic I really want to read her other works too! I hope we'll both enjoy them 😊 8y
Chachic Will definitely post about them here when I get the chance to read them! 8y

I'm 2/3 of the way through this book and am still not sure what's happening, but enjoying the ride anyway. Courtly intrigue! Dark magic! Revolutionary writings! Vienna! Hot con man!

This one landed on my doorstep a few weeks ago, despite not being YA at all (unusual for me, but whichever publicist was in charge of that, you're a smart cookie).

AIRNEÁNACH (“ARR-nen-ech”) Irish Gaelic meaning someone who likes working or staying up late at night, in my case, reading or writing.
