This HF book by Mary Pope Osborne takes the reader on another one of Jack & Annie‘s adventures through The Magic Treehouse. The two characters find themselves aboard the Titanic on the night it hits the iceberg. This book would be great for LC. EL 20 would work here & serve as an opportunity for teachers to highlight unknown words and take time going over them. UDL 3.1 would allow for an opportunity to supply background knowledge. #UCFLAE3414F19

Lrobertson I think your UDL and strategy is great!!! Depending on the age, there definitely might be some unknown vocabulary. 5y
ChrisC This looks like an interesting book to read about 5y
kgarzon Just like the rest of the series (minus the magic aspect), this book can serve as a great introduction to specific topics and historical events, as well as a way to garner interest in history in general. 5y

JennaMichelleCohn When looking for good resources to accompany this piece, I discovered that the author, Mary Pope Osborne, has an entire website dedicated to lesson plans for Magic Treehouse books. I found this one that is catered to Tonight on the Titanic only: https://www.mthclassroomadventures.org/application/files/7714/8604/9372/MTH-17-L... 5y
DrSpalding I like the idea of using this series as a source of literature circle options. I love all things Titanic! This one is an excellent read that can teach children some factual information about the horrific event. Excellent resource included. 5y

Tonight on the Titanic is a HF written by Mary Pope Osborne. Tonight on the Titanic follows Jack and Annie as they go back in time to save a child from drowning when the ship sinks. They must help the child before they all die from the sinking of the Titanic. This is a great read for students or help see how the Titanic may have been like for the people on it. This is a great book choice for IR.

This is a link to a lesson plan that can be used for the book Tonight on the Titanic. This lesson plan can satisfy ESOL strategy 2 and UDL 8.3. Students can collaborate with other students to go back in time to the time of the sinking of the Titanic.

DrSpalding I love all things Titanic. This is another great book in the series. Did you read them when you were younger? The resource you cited is the very best one for implementing these books in your future classroom. 5y

As a kid I had many obsessions, two of which were the Magic Treehouse books and Titanic. So when these came together as one, I was ecstatic. #SOS #WhatAWayToLive #PiratesLife

CrowCAH Great series and the perfect topic for SOS! 7y

Finishing up the 7y.o.'s reading homework and summary sheet. Anyone else notice in the Magic Tree House books that these kids are able to successfully sneak out of their house multiple times at different times of the day without their parents ever noticing?? They're like 7 and 8 years old! #parentingfail

Notafraidofwords This is why I find Dora disturbing sometimes. lol. Where are her parents. 8y
BeththeBookDragon My 7 year old has been reading these in class, and YES! Like Max and Ruby... Where are the parents?! 8y
