This book coming from Melody's perspective, you get to feel what it's like to have all these words and thoughts in your head, yet you can‘t speak! This is a great book for IR! Wonder is an RF story written by RJ Palacio and is a New York Bestseller. It tells the story of Auggie Pullman, and his transition from being homeschooled to going to a public school for 5th grade. But Auggie is not a normal 5th grader, he was born with a facial deformity. All he wants is to be a normal student. This book follows him and some of the closest people in his life. DrSpalding More detail needed. I agree with modern fantasy however recall our conversation. Some people believe it is realistic fiction and that Max was dreaming. I like the resource provided however I want to emphasize that you must read aloud to children as well. 5y

This F book is written by Elizabeth Coatsworth and illustrated by Lynd Ward is a Caldecott Medal winner. When a struggling Japanese artist becomes the owner of an unwanted cat, he is not very happy. But, when he then gets asked to make a piece featuring Budha, for a large amount of money, he begins to believe the cat is good luck. When he adds the cat in the art, it is denied. This story shows that love and passion are more important than money.

In this PB, it shows how people all over the world may look different, speak other languages, live in different looking houses, does not mean we are different. Everyone still hurts the same, laugh the same, and love the same. It is a great message to teach any student at any level. #ucflae3414f19

Have students make graphic organizers, like a Venn diagram, and compare and contrast the other students in their class with them. Harry, a Canadian soldier, found the cub at a train station. Naming her Winnipeg (after his home), she traveled with Harry and the troops. Once in London, Harry decided to leave her at the London Zoo. This is where Christopher Robin Milne found her, giving us the stories we know today. #ucflae3414f19

This (F/PB)E.B White Read-Aloud Award-winning book is an adorable story about a boy, named Duncan, coming to class to find all of his crayons missing from his crayon box. In their place was a stack of letters from said crayons on their reasoning for quitting. Some are feeling overworked, while others are arguing one another. At the end of the story, you see how Ducan makes all of the crayons happy. #ucflae3414f19

This book tells the story of his life, and his path to becoming an Ocean Explorer. He made large strides in the marine world, documenting the progression of humans' impact on sea life.
