I‘m giving up at a little over a third of the way through. It‘s very New Adult, very ‘why, exactly, aren‘t yall together,‘ very frustrating. I‘m hanging it up and moving on ✌️

“…the objectivity of solving a math problem…take solace in the quiet hours spent on a solo project.” Umm, I worked with high schoolers for a long, long time. Even the best and brightest don‘t talk to their friends like this 😐🫠
I totally get the appeal of this book. B and Jamie's relationship was an addiction that each one fought against while the other was pushing toward. It was heartbreakingly beautiful. The gambit of emotions, quite intense at times!

I found the beginning to be a little disorienting. Brecks Kennedy, from the end of the book, is telling the beginning of her story of romance with a boy named James that starts in high school with all these elaborate whiskey metaphors. If she had been a teenage alcoholic it would have gone down smoother.😜But I‘m glad I stayed to be put through everything you should want in a romance. Love, heartache, heartbreak, outrageous incredulity. Pick!!
I couldn‘t have been more enthralled with this story. B and Whiskey, were their own worst enemies. Their relationship was hostile, it was explosive, it was the epitome of every relationship. Their love for one another may not have been perfect, but it was their own version of perfect. The web created of their lives is heartbreaking beautiful. I loved seeing the fight that both characters have in them. A Love Letter to Whiskey was ugly but perfect.
This book ❤❤❤ It's 1.15 a.m in my part of the world and I just finished reading this beautiful, beautiful story. I started reading it 7 hours ago and COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!
Though it contains some elements I'm not happy with, those elements are important in the telling of this story. All in all, very well-written. Highly recommended! Pick it up!

“My mom always told me to never give my heart to a girl with a guy best friend, because her heart isn‘t really hers to give in return.”

I believed him when he said that, but sometimes we say things we don‘t mean. We may mean them in the moment the words leave our lips, but as time goes on, good intentions get rubbed raw by failed expectations. Those on the promising end forget why they promised at all, hearts jaded — for good reason.

But sometimes, even when we know something is bad for us, we do it anyway. Maybe for the thrill, maybe to cure our curiosity, or maybe just to lie to ourselves a little longer.

I saw him first, but it didn‘t matter.
Because he saw her.
