London, summer of 1584: Radical philosopher, ex-monk, and spy Giordano Bruno suspects he is being followed by an old enemy. He is shocked to discover that his pursuer is in fact Sophia Underhill, a young woman with whom he was once in love. When Bruno learns that Sophia has been accused of murdering her husband, a prominent magistrate in Canterbury, he agrees to do anything he can to help clear her name. But in the city that was once England's greatest center of pilgrimage, Bruno begins to uncover unsuspected secrets that point to the dead man being part of a larger and more dangerous plot in the making. He must turn his detective's eye on history--on Saint Thomas Becket, the twelfth-century archbishop murdered in Canterbury Cathedral, and on the legend surrounding the disappearance of his body--in order to solve the crime.

Thank you so much for the book and the chocolate @dandy.punk —they will be very much enjoyed! I am SO excited to try this delicious chocolate and peanut butter hot chocolate? Amazing! ☕️ #JolabokaflodSwap

dgingo @dandy.punk These chocolates and cocoa sound delicious! Where can I buy them?! 4y
cozypunk You're sooo welcome @DoctorMirabilis1267 Let me know how the cocoa is; I haven't tried it yet. 4y
cozypunk @dgingo It's a Minnesota chocoletier and their stuff is tasty! This year I tried their churro toffee. 😋 https://www.abdallahcandies.com/ 4y
dgingo @dandy.punk That sounds good, too, and I love learning about local/small businesses. Thanks for sharing! 4y

Mehso-so

I enjoyed the mystery but the secondary on-going romance with a treacherous woman is wearing thin for me. I am not sure I will continue with the series

TheWordJar I am so guilty of this! I don't know why, but I always read the last page before starting a book. There's hardly ever anything crucial on the last page, and honestly I always forget it while I'm reading anyway. Just a quirk, I guess. But I also like to read magazines backwards. 😳 8y
Mamashep Nooooooo!!!!! 8y
Suzze @TheWordJar My ex bookstore manager did that too. She said she could tell by the end if she would like the book. 8y

acorter @Mamashep I have 2 friends who do this. I agree with you! 8y
TheWordJar Isn't that funny! For me, the ending isn't even the reason I read it. Unless it's a classic or immensely popular book, I can't tell what's going on, nevermind if I'll like it or not! But I do realize it makes most book people cringe. 😖 (Maybe it's just the contrarian streak in me!) 8y
Bklover I've done it too. Lots. 😳 8y
BekahB HA! My mom does this with the last chapter of books. She eventually bought an e-reader but her one concern was that it would be too much of a hassle to skip to the last chapter. After I explained that she could navigate using the table of contents, she was ok with getting one. 😂 8y

Zelma This makes me think of When Harry Met Sally. 😂 8y
Wildwoman65 I confess that I do this all the time! 😄 8y
Suzze @Wildwoman65 I can't believe how many people do this. Now I feel like I am the odd person. 😜 8y
