Whiskey Words and a Shovel II
Whiskey Words and a Shovel II | R. H. Sin, Reuben Holmes
Real and raw, the voice of R. H. Sin delivers gritty, impassioned truths on matters of loving, living, and leaving in his second book of poetry. Sin's first book is a bestseller and continues to delight his one million followers. R.H. Sin's second volume continues the passion and vigor of his previous publication. His stanzas inspire strength through the pure emotional energy and the vulnerability of his poems. Relationships, love, pain, and fortitude are powerfully rendered in his poetry, and his message of perseverance in the face of emotional turmoil cuts to the heart of modern-day life. R.H. Sin's poems are often only a few lines long, and yet the emotional punch of his language gives these words an enduring power beyond the short page. He doesn't back away from the pains and struggles of life and love, and yet his determined, unapologetic voice provides a measure of comfort and a message of perseverance that is at once realistic and indomitable. This blend of determination and painful vulnerability gives his poetry a distinctive, engaging flavor.

This was repetitive and a repeat of the first. I don‘t necessarily mind it but I think you have to need the message at the time to read this “break up poetry.”

Use the shovel to bury this one. I‘m joking of course! I know it‘s an unpopular opinion, but this book of poetry wasn‘t for me — I found many of these poems to be condescending, repetitive and full of platitudes. That said, there were a few in there that elevated this review from a pan to so-so. 🤷🏻‍♀️

SW-T Good review. Some really good poems, but a lot of them are repetitive, sooo repetitive. Usually not the better ones. 6y

5th book of 2019. Finished: 3/10/19

Loved this book. The encouragements throughout the piece were my favorite. I was pleasantly surprised at how much the author grew from the first book to the second. His writing evolved and poems were much stronger. This book serves as a reminder for women to love themselves first.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The second volume to r.h. Sin‘s “Whiskey Words & a Shovel” series still packs a mean punch. The poetry in this book includes topics such as love, depression and mental health, heartbreak, harmful or toxic relationships, and self-love. I give this book 4/5 stars because some of the themes and poems were very repetitive for my taste. Overall, this is a good read and I will be reading the third and final volume in this series.

I‘ve been reading more and more poetry lately. And I mostly enjoy finding the best and, of course, that means I have to read the most popular. The first one was good but not the kind of poetry I love. If anyone can recommend poetry with themes OTHER then love, please leave me a comment. (I gave the first volume 3.5/5) #poetry

Wonderful poetry about love, loss, and self-love. Some of the poems may be short but they pack one hell of a punch.

R.H Sin writes beautiful poetry for our generation. He writes about love, the self image of women, heart break and healing. It's exactly the kind of book every women should read no matter where they are in life because you will be able to relate to his poetry on so many levels. 👏👏

Overall I found this a pretty solid poetty collection, both a quick and enjoyable read. At first glance these poems might look short & simple but they pack a mighty punch.

Love this Instagram poet.. But super simple. Don't expect rhyming couplets, or iambic pentameter, or stanzas of symbolic prose. This is how you felt in 9th grade after your first break up.

The Instagram poet is short and sweet. It's poems about love won and hidden pain and suffering. It's like me in high school all angsty, but super fun to read.
