The Inheritance Cycle
The Inheritance Cycle: Eragon / Eldest / Brisingr | Christopher Paolini
5 posts | 27 read | 5 to read
Fifteen-year-old Eragon believes that he is merely a poor farm boy - until his destiny as a Dragon Rider is revealed. Gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save - or destroy - the Empire. As the adventure continues, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix, cruel ruler of the Empire. Now Eragon must travel to Ellesmera, land of the elves, for further training in the skills of the Dragon Rider; magic and swordsmanship. Soon he is on the journey of a lifetime, his eyes open to awe-inspring new places and people, his days filled with fresh adventure. But chaos and betrayal plague him at every turn, and nothing is what it seems. Before long, Eragon doesnt know whom he can trust. After a time, following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep. First is Eragon's oath to his cousin Roran - to help rescue Rorans beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorixs clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength - as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices - choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice. Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?

#ReadingResolutions Day 18: I have yet to read the #Inheritance Cycle - the first three books are waiting patiently in my shelves. I don‘t think I have the last book in the series tho, so there is that.

blithebuoyant AHHHHH! I have such strong feelings about this TBH. I waited too long, read the first book, fell in love and then due to other obligations and such, haven't been able to read the rest! It's breaking my heart 😭 6y
laurieluna Never watch the film. They ruined the story. 😬 I have all of the books but have only read the first 2 so far. Read Eragon about 3 times! 😂 6y
laurieluna Also I love the fact Paolini was only 15 when he wrote the first book. 6y

I love love books with illustrations, especially maps. I am still drafting my world's map.

Making up names for the places is not that easy 😂 deng I need to find time to write the lore of my story. Diving back to Eragon and a few fantasy books might help me.

I like photographing books in book stores. :) And of course I put them back on the shelves when I'm done. I'm not a monster, after all.
