The Golden Ball And Other Stories
The Golden Ball And Other Stories | Agatha Christie
7 posts | 11 read | 6 to read
Is it a gesture of goodwill or a sinister trap that lures Rupert St. Vincent and his family to a magnificent estate? How desperate is Joyce Lambert, a destitute young widow whose only recourse is to marry a man she despises? What unexpected circumstance stirs old loyalties in Theodora Darrell, an unfaithful wife about to run away with her lover? In this collection of short stories, the answers are as unexpected as they are satisfying. The Queen of Mystery takes bizarre romantic entanglements, supernatural visitations, and classic murder to inventive new heights.

Pickpick

Giving this slight pick but definitely not my favorite of Christie‘s. Maybe because I didn‘t really like the last 3 stories. Several stories are a little spooky, fitting the theme for this month. None have her usual characters. The last one has a death of a beloved pet, so some may want to skip it. #scarathlon #teamslaughter @Clwojick 180 pts

#gold #junetunz I can usually count on my #christiecrimeclub collection 😀. Golden Son was better than Red Rising, in the middle of Morning Star ⭐️ ( book 3 )

My Agatha Christie collection is my go to for quite a few prompts including #crazycovers #marchintoreading and #fallingapart #springflingreading. My older but well loved Christie's are showing their age, sometimes the pages fall out etc.

Jaimelire Love Agatha Christie❤ 8y
Dragon Thanks @Jaimelire me too 😀🐉 8y

This was an interesting (mostly) read.A couple were surprisingly different from Christie's usual mysteries with supernatural elements. My favorite was The Lamp, which was about a haunted house. Sad but sweet.

Mehso-so

Listened to the audiobook via Hoopla. This was just ok. The first half of these stories were kind of cheesy and ended with Happily Ever Afters. The second half had a couple of darker stories. Not Christie's normal mystery fare.

My current audiobook lines up nicely with today's #booktober photo theme. 👍👍
