It may be a popular answer today, but it's my favorite: The Hogwarts Express. Throwback to that time I got to ride the "real" thing and AHHHHHH I wish I could live at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. #photoadaynov16
I have quite a few things on my TBR this month, but I'm hoping to get to this chunkster in November. It's been sitting on my shelf unread for more than 5 years. 😨 #photoadaynov16
Ugh this book was so frustrating. Kathy and Lester are two of the worst characters I've ever read about. And everything was just so needlessly tragic. All over a stupid house. Ugh ugh ugh.
My #AllHallowsRead TBR. Really excited to get to these. :) @Litsy
Listened to the audiobook via Hoopla. This was just ok. The first half of these stories were kind of cheesy and ended with Happily Ever Afters. The second half had a couple of darker stories. Not Christie's normal mystery fare.
My current audiobook lines up nicely with today's #booktober photo theme. 👍👍
"Dear You, The body you are wearing used to be mine." How do you not read on after that first line?! #booktober
"Solving the following riddle will reveal the awful secret behind the universe, assuming you do not go utterly mad in the attempt." Love this book and this first line. #booktober
Getting some coloring done while watching this super stressful Ohio State game. 😣😣
Whoo! Thanks everyone for helping me hit this first little milestone. 😁😁😁
Library book sale haul! Half off for members this weekend. 👍👍
I didn't really have the patience for this one. I'm sure it's good, but it was really slow to get to the point. Might have been better if I was reading it instead of listening to it on audiobook?
Let me know if you liked it or if it gets a lot better. I made it about 60% of the way through.
I had a few more award-winners on my shelf than I thought! Here's what I could carry from the bookshelf to the balcony (too cloudy to get a get pic inside today). I think a few of these are due for a reread... #booktober
This was everything I wanted in the last book of this series. Despite the length, I felt like it just flew by. I'm really going to miss these characters. Recommended to anyone looking for a great fantasy series. Please read this so we can discuss how great it is, hahaha.
10/5 stars. 😉
Oops, took an unintentional break from Litsy. 😶 But I'm back now!
Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock was both emotionally hard hitting and a bit of a let down. Some of the scenes in this book had me in tears, and the portrayal of a teen struggling with depression was very well done. But Leonard had some issues with the way he treated women that I couldn't over look.
Full review on my blog later this week: readthisfnbook.wordpress.com.
Thieves, assassins, a missing heir, court politics, a witch, battles, a dash of romance, and lots of adventure.
I'm currently reading the last book of this trilogy, and I couldn't recommend this series more. #booktober
Here's a slightly random sampling of debut books that I own. This is also a slightly random sampling of some of my favorite books. 👍 #booktober
This book was frustrating. The last third of the book or so was really great, and I enjoyed Alex as a narrator quite a bit. But the first big chunk of the book after the first chapter was just really dull. Lots of things that could have been interesting were bogged down with way too much detail.
"Happiness comes from moving toward something. When you run away, ofttimes you bring your misery with you."
Enjoying this giant of a book (900+ pages ?) with my favorite reading buddy. ❤
I keep my bookmarks in a glass vase that sits on the bookshelf for easy access. #booktober
The newest addition to my Harry Potter shelf is here! I just have to retrieve my original copies of the series from my parents' house to complete it. :)
Just hit Chapter 6. Feeling a bit bored by this one so far. Anyone out there read this one? Does it start picking up soon?
Book 2/4. Continuing to adore this series. Alanna is a wonderful heroine, and this story is a little more adult than the previous one. Follows Alanna from the ages of 15-18. I wish the book didn't rush over parts of Alanna's life, but for 209 pages, I felt like we got a lot of content. On to the next one!
My only books that are text-only covers. I love how different each cover is, despite being text-only! #booktober
A beautifully written book set in the Amazon rainforest.
"Marina leaned over the front of the boat and watched the lettuce compact beneath the pontoons while behind them the plants knitted themselves back together, smoothing over the path they had made without so much as a damaged leaf. We are here, Marina thought, and we were never here." #booktober
One of my most anticipated reads this month. My copy should be arriving any day. 😁👍 #booktober
I've been putting off reading this book for ages (I've had it since 2011!), and I'm really sorry I did now. This was great! Good mystery with interesting characters and reeeeeally dark story at points. I just read the summary of the sequel, and I'm so excited to get started on it.
Listened to the audiobook on Scribd. I'm a big fan of Mindy Kaling, so I really enjoyed this. If you're not, or not very familiar with her work, YMMV. Definitely not as good as her first book (a few parts kind of dragged), but still hilarious and entertaining.
I'm enjoying this one a lot more than I thought I would. 👍
Working with this beautiful book today. It's a first edition. 😍
Listened to the audiobook on Scribd. There were a lot of things I liked about this book. The idea of the art of persuasion as a sort of super power was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed reading about Emily's time at school. I also really liked the Memento-esque method of storytelling. However, there were some moments where I felt the story lost some momentum and dragged, and the ending was rather abrupt and unsatisfactory.
3/5 stars.
It started at one thirty on a cold Tuesday morning in January when Martin Turner, street performer and, in his own words, apprentice gigolo, tripped over a body in front of the West Portico of St. Paul's at Covent Garden.
