The Murder at the Vicarage | Agatha Christie

Bk9 of June & #BigJuneReadathon & Bk1 of #20in4 #readathon is done! Richard.E.Grant does a wonderful job of bringing this classic cozy to life, I‘m glad I came across it on Scribd. I do love my Poirot but Miss Marple runs a close 2nd with her quiet wisdom & unexpected belief in the worst of human nature. I‘d love a Grandma like her! Highly recommend. #BookspinBingo #AudiobookChallenge2022 #ChristieCrimeClub

TheAromaofBooks When Miss Marple is in full Marple-ism mode, she's my favorite 😂 2y
Andrew65 A brilliant start. 👏👏👏 2y

I'm on a bit of a cozy crime fiction spree at the moment and thought I should try Agatha Christie. I started with the first Poirot and followed it up with the first Miss Marple. There is a reason her books are so well read.

I really enjoyed reading this. I could picture the village and the characters. I have watched a number of adaptions which possibly coloured my imaginings. However I'm definitely looking forward to the next one.

Lizpixie Welcome to the #christiecrimeclub! 3y
Victoria_Clyne @Lizpixie Thanks. I think I'm going to love the #christiecrimeclub. 3y

Finished this Christie last night. It's not my favorite, but it's a solid mystery. I love the premise of Poirot taking on a case from someone who has already died. Christie is a comfort author for me, so I really enjoyed the mental break of reading one of hers!!

alisiakae Christie is a comfort read for me too. 3y

Cinfhen I just read a re-imagined book about the disappearance of Agatha Christie in 1926 @TheAromaofBooks It was good 3y
Lizpixie Dame Agatha is my go-to comfort read as well #christiecrimeclub (edited) 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Cinfhen - I saw your review for that one!! It looks interesting! Have you ever read Christie's autobiography? She doesn't talk about that disappearance, but she just ramble on about her life and such and it's great fun. 3y
shanaqui I totally reach for Golden Age crime fic for comfort reading too -- Christie's one of the best, but most of the stuff in the British Library Crime Classics series works for me. 3y
Cinfhen never read her bio, I bet it‘s great!! There was a fictionalized story that I read about her, which was also GREAT 3y

Hercule Poirot's Christmas | Agatha Christie
post image

Trying to stay cool on this hot & muggy December day by reading a classic Dame Agatha set in an English Christmas. Here‘s hoping the coming thunderstorm doesn‘t kick off a blackout so the aircon & fans stop working!🤞 #MistletoeManiacs 1pt #WinterGames2021 #notwinterherethough #ChristieCrimeClub #DashingDecember #readathon

Andrew65 I enjoyed that one. 3y

Bk4 of August & #LitsySummerCampReadathon & Bk1 of #AwesomeAugust #readathon is done. A reread by audiobook on Scribd, this has always been one of my favourite Dame Agatha books. One of her more convoluted murders, it‘s set in a big country house in England with a shooting, an unfaithful man & too many suspects. Loved it👍 #ChristieCrimeClub #ReadChristie2021 #ReadItAgainSam #AudiobookChallenge2021 #BookspinBingo #BritishCrimeClassicsChallenge👇

Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 Not. an Agatha Christie book I know of. 3y

Bk16 of April(and the last!)& Bk1 of #20in4 #readathon is done! It‘s past 12am here so it‘s 1st of May🍂 This is one of my favourite Dame Agathas, it‘s more cerebral than most as the crime is so old. I really like the David Suchet Tv ep of this too. #LitsyAtoZ2021 #LetterF #PickYourPoison #ReadChristie2021 #ReadItAgainSam #HistoricalFiction #BritishCrimeClassicChallenge #VintageMysteryChallenge #BackToTheClassicsChallenge2021 #CloakDaggerChal👇

Today‘s random #shelfie is part of my Dame Agatha Christie shelf. These are most of my “signature editions” but I also have vintage 70s editions, Crime Collections Omnibuses & assorted other special editions. Yes, I‘m a bit Dame Agatha obsessed. #christiecrimeclub

marleed Oh cool. This will be the year I read her! If I only ever read one - which do you recommend? 4y
Lizpixie @marleed that‘s a tough question honestly. I can only tell you my favourites, and there‘s no way of narrowing that to just one! The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd is one of her best early books, Death On The Nile & Murder On The Orient Express are two of my fave Poirot stories, or Five Little Pigs or The Hollow. The best Miss Marples for me are 4.50 From Paddington & The Mirror Crack‘d. Plus her best standalone is And Then There Were None. 4y
Lizpixie But I also love Halloween Party, Taken At The Flood(one of her best villians in that one), Cards On The Table & The Body In The Library. See, I can‘t just pick one! 4y
marleed You have given me a great place to start - thanks! 4y
thegreensofa 😍 major shelf envy here!! 💕📚 4y

#7books7days

Each day for seven days you post a book that made an impression on you.

Today‘s book is the very first Dame Agatha I read when I was 7yrs old. My Auntie Lilla had a shelf full of old editions that she let me borrow to read. Gave me a lifelong love of crime fiction which I still enjoy very much. Especially Dame Agatha! #christiecrimeclub #sleuthsoflitsy

BookishMe Wow! Precious memories 5y
LeahBergen I love these old Crime Club editions! 5y
