Winter is big business in small-town Snowflake, Vermont. Tourists arrive to hit the ski slopesand what could be more satisfying after a chilly day of carving powder than a steaming bowl of soup? Does she really want to run a restaurant business? And what about her grandfather Jack, who seems to be showing signs of Alzheimer's? But her life decisions are moved to the back burner after an icy blonde tourist is found frozen to death behind the soup shop. and Lucky is bowled over when her soup chef, Sage DuBois, is led out of the kitchen by the police. As suspicion and speculations snowball, Lucky decides that the only way to save her employee and her business is to find out herself who iced the tourist--and landed her chef in the soup... Simply, this is a heavier cozy, filled with serious and somber subject matter. I never quite warmed to Lucky, the MC, whose sleuthing at times went beyond the usual cozy formula. Yet, the soup descriptions sound amazing, and the recipes in the back look good. Overall, an okay read. I‘d read more in the series to see characters flesh out, but I‘m not in a hurry.

Tagging you, @kspenmoll , because you wanted to see my thoughts on this one!

Cinfhen I thought maybe it was #BakedGoodsOnCover at first glance 🍞 4y

Started off slow and definitely has a different vibe from a lot of other cozies, but I really enjoyed reading this. I guess I just can't go wrong with a mystery set around a suffering soup-shop owner in the snowy mountains of Vermont! 🍵☃✨#ilovecozies #ialsolovesoup #literallyicouldeatsouptherestofmylife #soupisagloriousfoodgroup

Hanging out at the dentist office 😬 In other news, this book has started off so sad and miserable literally this is the saddest cozy I've read so far. And I'm on like chapter 3 😱😱😱 but it's about a soup shop so I'm definitely going to give it a chance bcz I love soup more than life itself. Have a cool day, everyone!! #ilovecozies #thisoneismakingmesosadtho

Simona I can live only from soups ... straight to my TBR pile! 8y
LauraBrook Despite how sad it is, it sounds intriguing! Hope the dentist appointment goes okay for you! 8y
queerbookreader @Simona I know right I love soup so much!! @LauraBrook It's certainly stood out to me from other cozies I've read, so I'm totally intrigued. My appt went well, I'm just a little skittish around the dentist office since last year when they had to pull all 4 of my wisdom teeth 😫 that was a terrible experience lmao 8y

I thought this book was going to be awesome. the MC inherits her parents soup shop, amd has some incredible encounters as the story goes on. But... as the mystery unraveled the main character became so unbearable, PSYCHOTIC, I felt like shaking her and asking her what the hell are you f**king doing?! I was about to bail, but I persevered... This book was just a NO. 1/5 star rating.

queerbookreader That's such a bummer!! It sounds like a cool cozy mystery too, like a soup shop? That should be awesome 8y
