#DecemberDreams

A #Peace cookbook from my collection. I checked this one out from the library twice before finally buying it a few years ago. I‘ve made & loved a couple of the soups in it including the Zucchini, Cumin & Mint one shown here.

kspenmoll Parsnips are my favorite!!! 5mo

@RaimeyGallant Here you go - to give you some idea of the sort of thing included. It's tiny, but you can screenshot and zoom. I think my main problem with it is it's a bit wordy, so I Iook at any recipe and go "gaah, complicated/way too many ingredients" and put it back on the shelf, when it's probably not that bad! They do all look good though.

RaimeyGallant Wow, the recipe index on the right has got my mind whirling. I mean, chilli polenta? Come on! Who wouldn't eat that. You're right though, the instructions look cumbersome. 7y
RaimeyGallant Thanks for sharing this, by the way! :) 7y
rockpools @RaimeyGallant You're welcome! And do bear in mind that I have an irrational fear of recipe books, so it doesn't take much for me to put it back on the shelf! 7y
RaimeyGallant Oh, I might have that too. 7y

Day19 #MayBookFlowers #Peace I checked this peace-titled vegan cookbook out from the library 8 months ago (I returned it of course! 😆) but I never made the Zucchini, Cumin & Mint Soup recipe I copied down. In honor of today's photo theme and zucchini being on sale, this recipe will be Sunday's soup. 😋🍲💚🍴📚 #cookbooks #soup I may have to cave and buy the book if the soup is as good as it sounds.

Megabooks That soup does sound good! 😋😋 7y
BethFishReads Ooohhhh looking forward to your post 7y

rockpools @RaimeyGallant They all look lovely, but I'm notoriously bad at actually trying recipes out. I'll post you some pics later to give a better idea. 7y
KarenUK @RachelO it does! 😂👍 7y

And catching up from yesterday- a cook book special #fortheloveoffonts #readjanuary.

These are all stunning books - but I can count the recipes I've actually made from them on one hand 😑

tpixie Yes I keep telling myself that every weekend I need to pick one recipe from one of my cook books! 7y
rockpools @tpixie That's a really nice idea. I'd probably need to make that once a month (realistic!) but maybe I should try it. 7y
tpixie Once a month is more realistic!! 7y

rockpools @tpixie Right then! I'm declaring the first weekend of the month a cook book Saturday and I've put a note on the calendar. Let's see if it works 😉 7y
GlitteryOtters @RachelO @tpixie FYI, over on Instagram there is a group of us basically doing what you guys are talking about (but with vegan cookbooks-we change up the book each month. I'm sitting out this month, but will rejoin next month when they're doing the new Blissful Basil cookbook). It's under #vegancookalong if you are curious about joining in (or just interested in seeing how they do it). I keep thinking this idea would work well as a Litsy bookgroup 7y
tpixie @RachelO perfect. I will too! That'll give us time to psych & prepare!! 7y
tpixie @GlitteryOtters thanks!!! I'll take a peek! 7y
rockpools @tpixie Brilliant! This'll be fun. I'll warn you now though, I'm a functional cook (it has to be edible. That's it!), which is why I have so many unused cookbooks - so please keep any expectations to an absolute minimum! 7y
rockpools @GlitteryOtters That's fantastic! I'm not on instagram, but I've had a peek at what I can see, and it looks scrummy. I'd like to have more vegan recipes in my range - I tend to resort to cheese/eggs way too often. And your food always looks so delicious! 7y
tpixie @RachelO yes! Just trying to use the cookbooks I own!! 7y
tpixie @RachelO the food looks delicious on #vegancookalong!! Right now I don't want to buy anymore cook books, just utilize the ones collecting dust on my shelves! 7y

#Day12 #SeptemberPhotoChallenge #librarylove I live between 2 libraries about 2 miles from each which is good because there aren't many bookstores here. Neither library is fancy, but this one is my favorite due to the great library/community bookstore downstairs (blue window). Regular prices there are $1 HB & .50 cent PB but they do monthly genre 50% offs & an annual summer sale where the bottom corner stack pic came from. #somethingforsept 📚❤️

RealLifeReading A community bookstore! That's great! Love that pretty library card! 8y
DebinHawaii And this always strikes me as funny when I go in--both libraries have really great staffs except that there is one grumpy librarian in each branch that is scowling or at least not smiling most of the time. I remember a similar situation in a couple libraries in other cities I have lived in. So for any Litsy librarians out there, by 'library law' or tradition, is it a requirement to have one grumpy worker? 🤔 (Things I ponder...) 8y
