Moving On
Moving On: A Novel | Larry McMurtry
3 posts | 1 to read
With a riotously colorful cast of highbrows, cowpokes, and rodeo queens, in its wry humor, tenderness, and epic panorama, Moving On is a celebration of our land by Larry McMurtry, one of Americas best-loved authors. Moving On is a big, powerful novel about men and women in the American West. Set in the 1960s against the backdrop of the honky-tonk glamour of the rodeo and the desperation of suburban Houston, it is the story of the restless and lovable Patsy Carpenter, one of Larry McMurtrys most unforgettable characters. Patsyyoung, beautiful, with a sharp tongue and an irresistible charmand her shiftless husband, Jim, are adrift in the West. Patsy moves through affairs of the heart like small townstheres Pete, the rodeo clown, and Hank, the graduate student, and othersalways in search of the life that seems ever receding around the next bend. Moving On is vintage McMurtry.

I'm moving to Houston, TX, next month! I read McMurtry's Terms of Endearment and The Evening Star when I was just out of high school. This time, I'm starting with the first of the Houston novels. This came today, the day my husband headed for Houston to start his new job. I'll be following with our son after school is out. It's an exciting time. #movingon

I'm surrounded by boxes as we prepare to move home. Where we're going to I'm planning to set up a reading room (fingers crossed that those pesky kids don't intervene).

Lizpixie Good luck! I hate moving, thank god I've been here for 25yrs now & have no plans on moving anywhere soon. Unless I win the lottery. Then I'll just leave everything behind and start again! Except for my books of course☺️ 7y

arlenefinnigan Good luck! We're about to put in an offer on our first house, I was having a freak out last night and my husband had to reassure me that it's fine, the second bookcase will go in the spare room, there is enough space for the books. 7y
BookishTrish @arlenefinnigan Good luck to you! Book space is a big deal! 7y

Sometimes #insomnia is just a fancy way of saying, 'it's time to reread an old favourite.'

EloisaJames I like that! Should have jumped at it last night instead of staring into the dark and worrying about climate change! 7y
