Totally engrossed. I had my nose in my e-reader and did the bare minimum I could get away with until I finished it (and its sequel). I hadn't heard of it or the hype around it until it was chosen for our book club read. Wasn't expecting it to be so spicy! (Bordering on cheesy sometimes...) My favourite bit is definitely how well the dragon characters are developed and Tairn's dry humour. Prose can be repetitive but it's an entertaining read 👍🏻
This book was insane! It‘s been forever since I‘ve inhaled a book like this. Terrific fantasy, dragons, heroes, all the things. Hunger games meets the Dragon Riders of Pern. Warning: there were some truly cringy sex scenes. Otherwise- phenominal!
I am so disappointed on all levels: not original story elements, badly executed tropes, predictable plot twists, bland love interest and cartoonish antagonists. The action and fighting scenes were good but they do not warrant the hype. Worst: The "Oh My God" phrase in the bedroom is so overused and here was nothing original about it. I have read so much better romantasies.
“‘Fascinating. You look all frail and breakable, but you‘re really a violent little thing, aren‘t you?‘”

I read it (how could I avoid it? It was fun, whatevs, will read the next...) but can now only think of Anne McCaffrey (rip), the O.G. of thirsty, violent people with psychic bonds to large flying reptiles. I dunno if all the Tairn/Andarna/Violet stans are aware? But they should go read The White Dragon immediately.

Afternoon tea at 10,000 feet and several hours of uninterrupted reading time! ✈️
The hype about this one made me curious. And what fun it turned out to be, having that rare “one more chapter, bedtime be damned” addictive pull. Eager to get my hands on book 2 of the series.
(Pic is from a silent book club meet-up a few days ago, which was the reading session when I got well and truly hooked on this book. But I‘m glad I didn‘t get to the spicier parts while reading in public — I‘m a blusher.)
I should have bought the sequel with it. Tore through this one quickly. Send me to a world of shirtless fighters, dragons, and a little romance any day.
Switched to audiobook so I can listen as I cook meals for the next few days - the narrator is doing an excellent job with this one!
Welp. I wanted to love this the way so many do but I‘m kind of floored by the lack of world building and the half dozen plot holes. Fantasy requires some suspension of disbelief but this was…something else. It also felt very YA until the final quarter, and I have whiplash. 😂
Not sure I‘ll return for part two. But I do think it‘ll fare better as a television series. Maybe?
4.8⭐️ there was a lot of hype connected to this book, so I went in with the expectation to be let down. Two chapters in, I was like great, here is more of the same thing. But I was wrong, and it was so good and so worth the hype. However, I refuse to read the next one until at least book 3 is out and we know when book 4 is coming. #BookSpinBingo #DoubleSpin
20 hours of listening flew by while I was swept up in this dragon fantasy with a kick-ass heroine! Hopefully it‘s a short wait for the sequel because I‘m suffering a big ole book hangover.
Library holds clearing. Normally not a fantasy girl. Let‘s see if I stick with this!
Brought the tagged book with me to my Vday mani/pedi appt today. Goal is to finish by the end of the week so I can spend a solid week with Lauren Groff for #AuthorAMonth & also finish some BHM/romance-y titles for February.
I get why it‘s so popular - very Harry Potter (fanfic?) meets Game of Thrones. Dain is already on my nerves but so is MC so… 😜
I am not sure I have words for how much I love this book! I was worried that it wouldn‘t live up to the hype and it absolutely did! I was pulled in from the very first word and it didn‘t let me go until the last! And that ending??? Holy moly!!
My jury duties are officially complete so I treated myself to a lil spree at one of my fave local indie bookstores.
Only got about 10% deep into Fourth Wing while I was waiting. I‘m enjoying it so far - well fleshed out world building even if the MC is a lil cringe uwu at times. 😅
“Conscription Day is always the deadliest. Maybe that‘s why the sunrise is especially beautiful this morning-because I know it might be my last”.

I know this is technically two lines, but on did not feel complete without the other.
It begins, y‘all!
2024 is my year of #romantasy (or at least that‘s what it‘s shaping up to be).
Also hoping to tackle #2 in the ACOTAR series & the sequel to Divine Rivals if I can get my hands on a copy (my local bookshop was out!). 🥰🤷🏻♀️💖 It is “love” month after all.
Finally got to this super popular book. It has all the things a fantasy book needs to have to be a roaring success — dragons, acboarding school but for adults, action, intrigue, and romance. Not without cliches, but entertaining nonetheless. Mature content. Only two books out of goodness knows how many is out, so I‘m looking forward to the second one. Colorado author.
Perks of having the plague… lots of time for reading and Vanderpump marathons!
Listening to the 4th Wing audiobook. Bit confused as to when the narrator says 'rider' or 'writer' (Violet has trained all her life to be a scribe but her mum decrees she will be a dragonrider). Also never sure when characters are speaking/ protagonist is thinking
Seems weird when dragon riders are desperately needed to defend the borders that the training is so dangerous that cadets die/ are allowed to kill each other.
So I have Jury Duty on Thursday.
Do I use that time spent waiting around to start/get a sizeable chunk into ✨Fourth Wing✨ and see what all the hype is about?
This was a very fun read. "Fourth Wing" offers an enjoyable dragon-riding fantasy, but the intense love story occasionally feels excessive, lingering too long across multiple chapters. While crucial to the plot, it becomes a bit gratuitous. Fortunately, the narrative regains momentum with a thrilling battle and a surprising cliffhanger, redeeming the overall experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Getting in a little reading while my husband watches football
A little all-tell-no-show, but I get the hype. This was totally addictive and fun and made me want to take martial arts classes 🤪
Ohhhhh my goodness this book is action packed! There were a few times Violet annoyed me. The dragons were great. Romance great. The ending omg i literally yelled "what that's it?!" at the ending. I cannot wait for the 2nd book to be available at my library!
#52bookclub24 #anauthoreveryonehasreadexceptyou #pop24 #featuresdragons So I finally folded and read the book that ALL my booksellers love, and our biggest title of last year, and you know what…it was a great read! It‘s definitely a bit derivative in its story and themes, but I had fun. A feisty female MC, good world-building (which I normally struggle with), some spicy bits and some truly snarky and grumpy dragons. Not my usual jam for sure….
I guess I‘m doing this.
Loved the banter between Tairn and Violet but I love Andarna and Tairn relationship even more (by relationship I mean their friendship of sorts).
Nothing better than a toxic relationship where he won‘t say I love you even when she does 🤣
I went into this book knowing nothing but the blurb that is on the Amazon's book page, and somehow was able to borrow a #skiptheline copy from my local library. I didn't know what I was getting into but I fell in love with this book and it's characters. Rebecca did a good job of making her readers fall in love with each of the characters even if we were suppose to despise them.
First of all booktok is obsessed with this, and I totally agree the ending was a roller coaster and favorite scene from the book MINOR SPOILER alert is that when Xaden tells Violet a secret, he‘s been keeping from her and she doesn‘t trust him anymore and corrects him when he says you love me and she says loved, and he shouts love.😍
I am really really loving this. Only about 6ish hours into the 21 hour audiobook. I thought the golden one! Loved this part.

Really enjoyed this book! Interested to see where the rest of this series will go.
Unpopular opinion here. This was so overhyped. The premise sounded amazing but the writing style wasn‘t very successful - at least not for me. The author struggles to develop characters and relationships properly. We‘re expected to believe Violet is friends with people because the author says so rather than actually showing it and letting the readers see the growth. And the romance? Ugh. Felt so one sided with Violet and suddenly it‘s not? ⬇️
