Wow! Just finished this and desperate to start the next!
Definite Hunger games/game of thrones vibes with a sprinkling of Harry Potter, the whole riders school and Rebels children being forced to become riders 👍 . Loved the dragon bonding, riders personal sigil& challenges.
Call me vanilla but wasn‘t keen on the detailed sex, personally was the only let down,a bit of passion fine but TMI at times 😅
Diving into iron flame&joining the rebellion 🤩

Because of the hype, I probs wouldn‘t have read this if not for the #ALSpine list from @Lin3han but I am SO GLAD I did! I mean, the component parts aren‘t necessarily original but they are combined so well. I love Violet. And the invisible disability rep was *so* relatable (being annoyed with an uncooperative body, dealing with others‘ ableism and your own internalized ableism, being able to do what other do but with adaptations,etc.). Audio is 💯

I think this was the right book for the right time. A fast romp of a read that I had put off due to all the hype. Next up Rock Paper Scissors which will likely be my last of this list and the final prompt for 52 Bookclub.

1) picking out my coffee mug and then having my first cup
2) Only a few chapters in but Violet is courageous

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4/5
The first half of this book was soo slow. The second half had me hooked though!
December goals… would love to finish these off to start the new year fresh. And although im on holidays starting today, I‘m extremely doubtful
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I wasn‘t sure if this would hold up for a 3rd read, but it really did. Very fun, spicy, and fast, it‘s a great time.
Rebecca Soler is a very enthusiastic audiobook reader which sometimes really adds to the story and sometimes it‘s a bit too much.
I‘m excited to be back in the world & will anxiously await book 3 coming out in a couple months.
Omg this book was soooo good!! Could not put it down and had many late nights!! Loved the characters, dragons and enemies to lovers.
4.5 Stars • Violet Sorrengail, a young woman with a non-combat background, is forced into the deadly Basgiath War College, where cadets train to become dragon riders. Despite her unsuitability for warfare, Violet possesses a rare ability to hear dragon thoughts, which could either be her salvation or her downfall. The story follows her brutal first year at the academy, where she must survive harsh training and navigate complex relationships.
“There is no rule that says a dragon cannot modify their seat to serve their rider. You have worked just as hard - if not harder - than every rider in this quadrant. Just because your body is built differently than the others doesn't mean you don't deserve to keep your seat. It takes more than a few strips of leather and a pommel to define a rider“
-WE ARE BUILT DIFFERENTLY, NOT INCORRECTLY! 🤘-
I understand that being an inntinnsic is illegal because it is so dangerous, I get that...but damn, being under a death sentence because of magic the dragon gave you....that's nuts....
“This place cuts away the bullshit and the niceties, revealing whoever you are at your core.” I repeat his words from this summer. “Isn‘t that what you said to me? Is this who you really are at your core? Someone so enamored with rules that he doesn‘t know when to bend or break them for someone he cares about? Someone so focused on the least I‘m capable of doing, he can‘t believe I can do so much more?”
“'You'd rather I die, no doubt,' I fire back, the side of my face pressed into the mat. This isn't just painful, It's humiliating.
'And be denied the pleasure of your company?' he mocks.
'I fucking hate you' The words are past my lips before I can shut my mouth.
'That doesn't make you special.“
😂😂😂😂
Reading this one again because I decided to annotate my book before starting Iron Flame!
THAT ENDING THOUGH, how are you going to do that on the LAST PAGE, and expect my heart not to freaking STOP?! This book was sooo good and I am definitely excited to continue the series when I can!
THEY MADE A PERSONALIZED SIDECAR FOR THE BABY DRAGON ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW? I love this book so much.
lol if I had waited a page, I'd have seen her tell him off and then cut him off :D
“Best friend“ or not, Dain is really starting to piss me off, HE'S SO ANNOYING.
Dain, you absolute TWATWAFFLE.....you're not helping yourself here....Violet is gonna hate you by the end of this just because you won't stop trying to “save her life“ OH MY GOD......Okay sorry I needed a second to get that off my chest lol
Starting completely over since I kinda went off on a different book tangent the last time I was reading these and stopped about 5 chapters in, maybe, going again :D
Excellent fantasy set in a highly militarized country with a tight grip on information revealed to the public. The fantasy part: dragons, gryphons, and some sort of evil wizards.
😭😭what took me so long to start reading this! I now suddenly want to lower the rating of some books I have read this year because this was so far superior. I could not stop reading from chapter 1. The story captivated me fully. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book. I am no longer okay living in a world without dragons or a world where “he” is just a fictional character. I couldn‘t care less about the dangers. I ll fly or die any day.
So many goodies right in time for the school holidays. I plan on reading the tagged book on the bus ride to visit family next week. Thankyou for your kindness @maich I‘m sorry mine is late getting to you.
Yes, yes, YES!!! 👏🏻 This is an incredible read, and has quickly soared to one of my favorite reads of all time. I cannot wait to get my hands on book two! 👏🏻 5 🌟
My lovely niece at last night's D-backs game (where we horribly lost: 15-8). What does she bring when she's bored? A Kindle? Nope. A book. At the game. Actually, I've never seen her without a physical book, tbh. 🤩🤩🤩
It felt like the story was lacking originality and wasn‘t very memorable but it was interesting and enjoyable.
I‘m borrowing a copy from a coworker (I will own it one day!!) and so the picture isn‘t mine. I am so glad that the hype was not over exaggerated! Violet is awesome (bookish badass) and the school she gets to go to is brutal, but fun and has some powerful lessons. There is the sexual tension, too. And 🐉!! Also, totally did not see the twist! #recentlyread
I‘m always sceptical when a book is so hyped, but this one absolutely lived up to it and more! Loved every page! Can‘t wait for round two!
I have been determined to read this since last year- I have a hardcover edition, a kindle edition and audio edition. And yes I am glad- My obsession feels a little like Twilight. Some holes in the story. Some things that annoyed me (why is there not an original calendar?) but I loved it…. all of it. Also i‘ve read 3 books this week!!!! My brain fog may be lifting finally 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
A double pick if I was able to choose!
I love the writing style, the charcters and the world Rebecca Yarros created.
You can read how Violet grows from a girl into a woman, how Xaden's wards fall down and how people become friends and friends become...
It is a enemy to romance, opposits attracts, forbidden love, love triangle,...
I am a fan and already started Iron Flame 😅
Hihihihi Xaiden 🥰 fuck off Dain🫶🏻
Found myself simping for Tairn💀
What a ride! Definitely did not see that last page coming. Looking forward to book two and more fun dragon dialogue! #fantasy #romantasy #dragons
Very cool dragons and really boring people! Ok, I know there is a ton of buzz around this book, but it is indeed a mediocre fantasy novel. The beginning is so slow and I didn‘t care about any of the characters. If they died, if they lived, didn‘t matter to me. It wasn‘t until about 170 pages in that it got good. This is a book that reads like a 15 year old wrote it, so don‘t expect good writing. But this was a fast read once the dragons showed up.
Enjoying Rebecca Yarros with @StaceGhost 💛 #nationalbookfestival24
I love hanging with friends at the National Book Festival!
Yes, it‘s all the hype! Fourth Wing 🪽 series is an action packed fantasy dream of dragons, magic & war college. I‘ve read 130 books so far this year and this was hands down the best! I loooove it! Can‘t wait for the 3rd book 📕 #OnyxStorm January 2025. 😍🐉🔥🗡️ I absolutely loved the FMC Violet 💜, Xaden took a minute to grow on me. 😂 Violet + Xaden 🥀
Tackle the TBR 🤓📚

A great holiday read. If it hasn‘t already been decided I can definitely see this following in the path of The Hunger Games and becoming a movie franchise. I could probably have done with about 100 pages less but the cliff hanger at the end means I‘m in it for the series.
Not my usual genre, enjoyed this one and am now wondering why I left it for so long, looking forward to the next 2.
1. Podcast—I‘m never in favor of anything that requires me to be on camera!
2. I go back to work tomorrow 😭 so my summer is over, but I‘d like to read Fourth Wing in August!
