Sometimes, living in a house can be tiresome. So these siblings pack a bag and take a hike, to find another place. From a treehouse to a raft, a cave to a sandcastle -- each place seems perfect to them. That is, until they tumble out of the treehouse, their raft sinks, they meet the bears who already live in the cave, and the tide turns them out of their sandcastle. Like Goldilocks, these three children search until they finally find the home that's "just right" -- the very house they left in the beginning. The house with Mom and Dad!For young children, this lilting, silly book makes for a satisfying read aloud, and the illustrations, with their unusual palette and strong compositions, effortlessly bridge the gap between reality and fantasy.

#riotgrams #favoritechildrensbook Impossible to pick a fave book from childhood-even narrowing to 7 of my most formative favorites was hard. Are You My Mother & the tagged book are how I learned to read w/their repetition. The Borrowers & Pippi Longstocking were books shared w/my dad. The All-of-a-Kind Family books were repeated library checkouts & The Happy Hollisters was my 1st mystery series-I finished them & found my sister's Trixie Belden's💜

#bookstoliveby #LitsyRiotLive It's hard choosing books w/the biggest impact on my life but I finally picked these 9-starting w/a strong childhood foundation-the first 2 I learned to read on & begged to have read to me, Pippi w/my dad, the Trixie Belden series, A Gift of Magic & Farewell to Manzanar sealed my book love & I just adore Pride and Prejudice, Never Let Me Go & The Book Thief. All of these books have stayed on my shelves & in my heart.❤️
