Mehso-so

Not a terrible cozy mystery; it takes place in a bookstore, so that was fun. I did not enjoy the cheesy old-timey detective lingo. References to women as dames and dolls, legs as gams, and some casual racism. I thought the murder was pretty easy to figure out, too. (Full disclosure- I don‘t usually read cozies)

Chosen for my #RhodeIsland book for #readthestates.

#curiouscovers #littenlisten

A book with a cover with a good deal of #orange on it that I hope to squeeze in to this month‘s #audioathon.
It‘ll also be my #readthestates for #RhodeIsland.

Pickpick

I love cozy mysteries by Cleo Coyle! I actually started this mid-October, but had too many other things to read. I am glad I came back to finish this book about a haunted bookstore!

I really enjoyed the Coffeehouse Mystery Series so I thought I'd pick up this one (same author, different pen name). Eh, it was OK I guess. I understand that the ghost character was alive in the 40s, but the attempt to use language of the era just felt forced. Also, I found the the sexist nature of the dialogue to be really grating. I won't be reading anymore of this series.

So... Yeah. This was published in 2004, same year as The Dark Tower VI and VII. There hadn't been a lull in his publishing either, so this is just a weird thing to put in as an off the wall statement. 🤔
