Wow! So much packed into this very short story! It‘s been years since I read any of the books, and I‘m more familiar with the kinder, friendlier relationship of Poirot and Hastings in the TV adaptions. So different here! Really excellent quick read. Not to be missed if you read Poirot books! The derogatory/racist language was jarring; it shows how far we‘ve come from the 1920‘s. ⬇ï¸
Bluebird The ‘All About Agatha‘ Podcast shines for this one. Great discussion about the mystery, the characters, the changes between the story and the TV adaptation and, of course, the language issue. (edited) 2y

Bluebird @Librarybelle I don‘t think I‘d read any of her short stories before. This was her first; written after the Mysterious Affair at Styles. Apparently she wrote it to appease fans while they waited for her next book. 2y
