I wonder how many of these I can "ram" through this weekend? Hahahahaha, okay, but really I am alarmed at how much I set aside for the #24in48 readathon.

Lots of quick read and a couple of deeper dives. I will be finishing the De Salvo book for sure, as well as a couple from the Bone series. #letsdothis! #butmaybeIdoneedtosleepfirst?

Chester Brown re-created several well known Biblical stories, focusing on how god views obedience and themes of prostitution in the Bible. I personally loved the comics. It seemed like a clever and unique view of how these stories are usually viewed.

I appreciated that Brown takes the time to explain why he made the stories the way he did and where is conclusions came from. I just wish he hadn't made so many notes. :p

Brown includes extensive notes in his book to explain the thought process to his work and how he drew many of his conclusions. What with his running theme of prostitution and religious obedience in the Bible, this is interesting information to understand where he's coming from. Though I would also argue it's largely unnecessary for enjoying (or hating) his comics.

Brown has an interesting perspective on the Biblical stories and what messages they were trying to convey. It's surprisingly well done.

Who knew the bible was basically a puzzle revolving around prostitutes?

Challenging, ambitious. I'm glad Chester Brown exists. Like PAYING FOR IT and LOUIS RIEL, this comic upends expectations of the very form. But Brown's argument is biased by his need for spiritual acceptance of his life as a john, and even as someone politically pro-sex work it's wildly unconvincing.
