Last Mortal Bond
Last Mortal Bond | Brian Staveley
The trilogy that began with "The Emperor's Blades" and continued in "The Providence of Fire "reaches its epic conclusion, as war engulfs the Annurian Empire in Brian Staveley's "The Last Mortal Bond "The ancient csestriim are back to finish their purge of humanity; armies march against the capital; leaches, solitary beings who draw power from the natural world to fuel their extraordinary abilities, maneuver on all sides to affect the outcome of the war; and capricious gods walk the earth in human guise with agendas of their own. But the three imperial siblings at the heart of it all--Valyn, Adare, and Kaden--come to understand that even if they survive the holocaust unleashed on their world, there may be no reconciling their conflicting visions of the future.

I‘ve been listening to this 29 hour audiobook off & on over the last two months, and though it is dark & violent & occasionally quite hopeless, I enjoyed it! The world was so well-developed, the people and the different gods fully fleshed out, and somehow through all the darkness, love & characters to cheer for shone through. And Simon Vance is a fantastic audio narrator - all told I listened to him for 73 hours as he read these three books!

Amazing!!! I loved the whole series! A good ending to the story. As usually wish I had more…oh wait there‘s another book to read that follows the side characters.

GrilledCheeseSamurai 👏 I still haven't read any Stavely. I need to get on that! 5y
vivastory I think this is the same artist who did the designs for the Eames you posted, as well as 5y
Sweetkokoro @vivastory Yup it is. I have a ton of books that he did the covers for, regardless if the book is good or not I can‘t help but buy them since I really love his work. 5y
Xerepha I love this series…took me a while to read it because people told me I wouldn‘t like it. Well they were wrong. Skullsworm was by far my favorite!!! 3y

This quote feels like the theme of this book so far. Frustrating to read when you as the reader know everything that's happening but Staveley does a great job in making this familiar storytelling element interesting and vital to the story. Liking this book the best out of the trilogy so far 👍

Arabiatta I'm enjoying this one too. Feels like it will come to a good satisfying conclusion. 9y

Nighttime fiction-reading lessons. Slow-going so far but interesting enough to keep me up.

Though nonsensical it may seem , my first review is of the third book of the Unhewn Throne (my most recently read novel). I found it a gripping end to a fantastic journey to a well developed fictional universe - tying up the various plotlines of each imperial sibling both dramatically and deftly.
