So Much Pretty
So Much Pretty: A Novel | Cara Hoffman
5 posts | 19 read | 7 to read
Set in a rural community steeped in silence and denial, So Much Pretty explores all parents greatest fear, that their child will be hurt. But it also examines a second, equally troubling question: What if my child hurts someone else? The disappearance and murder of nineteen-year-old Wendy White is detailed through the eyes of journalist Stacy Flynn and a host of other richly drawn characters, each with their own secrets and convictions. After Wendys body is found, Flynns intense crusade to expose a killer draws the attention of a precocious local girl, Alice Piper, whose story intertwines with Wendys in a spellbinding and unexpected climax.

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK! Not only@is it riddled wit grammatical errors and plot holes, but it is completely impossible to read! Too many characters to remember, too much skipping between the past and present, and half the time you don‘t know who‘s narrating! Awful book

This book is such a #SlowBurn I was more than halfway through before I knew if I even liked it. But then all the pieces fell into place and it became a truly amazing novel, one I can honestly say changed me as a person. #Septembowie @Marchpane

Pickpick

A lot of the imagery in this book reminded me of the area my grandparents live--the countryside littered with abandoned school buses, the family farms that got bought by an industrial operation. It made the crime that much more disturbing.
