Arctic Dreams
Arctic Dreams | Barry Lopez
WITH AN INTRODUCTION BY ROBERT MACFARLANE Lopezs journey across our frozen planet is a celebration of the Arctic in all its guises. A hostile landscape of ice, freezing oceans and dazzling skyscapes. Home to millions of diverse animals and people. The stage to massive migrations by land, sea and air. The setting of epic exploratory voyages. And, in crystalline prose, Lopez captures the magic of the Arctic the essential mystery and beauty of a continent that has enchanted mans imagination and ambition for centuries.

Another month means picking another book club selection. We decided to do something slightly different this month, we nominated all non-fiction books. A varied and interesting group of books were nominated and we think we ended on a very interesting selection. Of course, we discussed all things other than books including Xavier University, starting a farm, and more! Enjoy!

1.Read the tagged book just last year.Absolutely dream-like and poetic in its descriptions. Also givenwhat we're doing to the Arctic wastes, this might be the only record we'll have of that in 10 years!
2.Big house shift happening in a month, hoping to get through that with sanity and health intact!
3.A work call went better than expected!
Post your responses, everyone!!

Eggs Thanks for playing 💙❄️ 3y

Today's Author Spotlight 4: Barry Lopez! I have to say, his prose is so darn good, oh man! I've been hooked on Barry since high school. The 72-year-old was born in Port Chester, NY and attended the University of Notre Dame. The San Francisco Chronicle has called him "the nation's premier nature writer". The archive of his material is found at Texas Tech University. He lives in western Oregon. #AuthorPotpourri #TheMoreYouKnow

Richryan52 @MrBook I too am a Notre Dame alum! 7y
azulaco I wonder why he archived at Texas Tech instead of at the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas (my alma mater)? The Ransom Center is such a go-to for authors' papers. 7y
