The Story of the Other Wise Men
The Story of the Other Wise Men | Henry Van Dyke
13 posts | 5 read | 2 to read
Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing many of these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.

Two #wisemen stories, very different from each other.

I actually quite liked this one. Short and simple with a nice moral

Great little jewel of a story I discovered this holiday season. Can't believe I'd never heard of it. 🤔

I may still finish another comic or two before the day is over tomorrow (and I still need to finish up the Hornby!) but this is pretty much my December reading. This was an unusual month in that only two reads were print books. One was an audiobook, and the rest were ebooks via Hoopla or Serial Reader. I did kinda load up on short holiday reads on #SerialReader! One of those (tagged) made it to my #BestOfDecember list. 😊 #seasonsreadings2016

I woke up far too early and stayed up far too late packing, and I didn't finish stitching my bookmark gift, but I am settled in at the airport and ready for a trip from balmy South Carolina to frigid upstate New York! 😂 I'm reading a lovely Christmas story! #airportreading #serialreader

I absolutely loved this. It's the story of a fourth wise man, who stops to help a dying man while on his way to meet the other Magi. He is left behind as a result, and the story follows his pilgrimage to find the King. It's a beautiful story with a wonderful message- just what I needed as a pause in the rush of the past few weeks. #serialreader

"...the light for which the world is waiting is a new light, the glory that shall rise out of patient and triumphant suffering. And the kingdom which is to be established forever is a new kingdom, the royalty of perfect and unconquerable love. ... Those who seek Him will do well to look among the poor and the lowly, the sorrowful and the oppressed."

Who seeks for heaven alone to save his soul,
May keep the path, but will not reach the goal;
While he who walks in love may wander far,
Yet God will bring him where the blessed are.

I'm debating on bailing on Gilead and getting on with some Christmas reading. Gilead was a cozy read for almost the first half but now is getting too cerebral.
@NataliePatalie

DebReads4fun I really enjoyed Gilead, but read it in small portions. 8y
