When a good book is under $5 I just can‘t resist. Sometimes even a bad book. 😂 I have been resisting getting a kindle, because I read on my iPad. But ebooks kill battery so fast, I‘m now considering a kindle. Which one is your favourite?

Tamra I got a Kindle Paperwhite not too long ago, but it‘s for camping so I haven‘t used it much yet. I‘ve just been downloading the deals to fill the shelves. 😸 (edited) 6y

JHSiess I only use a Kindle Voyager to read outdoors. Inside, I use my Samsung tablets. 6y

Christine11 Because I have my iPad for everything else I just got the most basic kindle and I find it really useful because it‘s so light and portable! 😊 6y

Does anyone else take pictures of books in bookstores when they think they may want to borrow instead of buy? Is this ethically questionable? I have a habit of doing that but now I wonder if I'm taking money out of the mouths of authors. On the other hand I can't afford to buy every book I want to read and libraries do exist. Your thoughts?

BekahB I write the titles and author names in my notes app if I'm thinking of checking out a book from the library or getting the audio version of it. There's nothing wrong using your library. 😀 8y

Zelma I do it all the time. Does it take money out of the author's pocket? Technically, if you would have bought it otherwise. But authors aren't picketing libraries for many reasons. Libraries often pay higher prices for each title, multiple copies, as well as replacement copies in the future. Libraries also introduce readers to authors, who may go read the rest of the author's catalog. And stats show library users buy more books than nonusers. 8y

saguarosally @BekahB Glad to know I'm not alone! When I tried writing it down I forgot to look for the books so pictures seem to work for me, but glad to know libraries are good! 8y

saguarosally @Zelma Good to see this perspective! The only thing I came up with for authors not being against libraries was that it would be a PR nightmare. Also like many here, I read more than I can afford to buy! 8y

Zelma @saguarosally 😀 most authors are pro-library. A culture that supports and cultivates readers is one where everyone wins. Check out some of Neil Gaiman's nonfiction or speeches; he quite vocal about loving libraries and librarians. 8y

rubyslippersreads I'm always afraid a bookstore clerk will scold me for taking a picture, so I try to remember (not always successfully) the title till I get outside and can put the info in my phone. 😄 8y
