When rebels clash with renegades, its the Empire that may claim the final victory. Times are desperate for the Rebel Alliance. Harassment by the Empire and a shortage of vital supplies are hindering completion of a new secret base on the ice planet Hoth. So when Mid Rim merchants offer much-needed materials for sale, Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo lead an Alliance delegation to negotiate a deal. But when treachery forces the rebel ship to flee into territory controlled by pirates, Leia makes a shocking discovery: the fierce marauders come from Leias homeworld of Alderaan, recently destroyed by the Death Star. These refugees have turned to pillaging and plundering to surviveand they are in debt to a pirate armada, which will gladly ransom the princess to the vengeful Empire . . . if they find out her true identity. Struggling with intense feelings of guilt, loyalty, and betrayal, Leia is determined to help her wayward kinspeople, even as Imperial forces are closing in on her own crippled ship. Trapped between lethal cutthroats and brutal oppressors, Leia and Han, along with Luke, Chewbacca, and a battle-ready crew, must defy deathor embrace itto keep the rebellion alive. [A] rollicking Star Wars adventure . . . a book that keeps you eagerly turning pages.Roqoo Depot From the Hardcover edition.

I am happy to report that I have yet to be disappointed by a Star Wars book. I bought this as soon as I found out who the author was. And the fact it was a General Organa story certainly didn't hurt. I really enjoyed it. Lots of action and a solid plot. I did have to look up some of the species mentioned along the way because there just are so many I can't remember them all. Book shown with my husband's recent etsy SW blaster purchase.

Traveling recently from Maine to California. I hate to fly and have anxiety about it. One of the things I do to trick my brain is that I always bring a sci fi book that has space travel in it. I think it helps. Thought I'd share my trick here in case others might be similarly afflicted.

Soubhiville Mmmm, Stroopwafel! Have a good trip! 1y
bookishbitch @Soubhiville thank you. I'd never seen mini ones before. They are quite good! 1y

The minute I heard Martha Wells, The Murderbot Diaries author, wrote this I knew I had to have it. I love the cover art. The fact it is a library cast off is a fun bonus. It turns out she has some fantasy books out there I'll eventually check out as well. I'm not sure when I'll read this but I'm excited about it.

RamsFan1963 If you're going to check out fantasy by Martha Wells, I highly recommend this book 2y

Unabridged Audiobook (3/10):
This one was such a slog to get through. There‘s a few neat moments for Leia, but for a story that is supposed to focus on her, NOTHING HAPPENS. I‘m really disappointed in this one and the writing just doesn‘t feel genuine to the character of Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan.

I'm halfway through a re-read and suddenly the library is showering me with a bunch of holds that I just can't risk starting too late. But I want to finish my current book. Guess I'm giving up sleep for the next two weeks 😜

My new obsession with Star Wars canon novels continues: particularly, audiobooks read by January LaVoy. I loved this one too, I may have Han and Leia issues 😂 I cannot get enough of reading about them. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'm not sure I'm going to make it to midnight... And my fun and easy reading isn't quite holding my attention. Maybe I will switch back to Solnit. Or give We Should All Be Feminists a try.

Or, cry uncle and go to bed. 😪

I've had such trouble reading lately. Nothing holds my attention.

TheWordJar I vote for We Should All Be Feminists (just finished it a few minutes ago)! Picked up my hold at the library tonight, thought I'd just read the first section or two, but ended up finishing it in about half an hour. Definitely worth a reread! Hope you find something that holds your attention! (Though sleep is good too!) 8y
silentrequiem @TheWordJar I just started it and it already has me smiling. 😊 8y

Leia was always the coolest of the three main characters. RIP Carrie Fisher.

A great Leia-centric tie in novel; lots of action, and lots of chances for Leia to be the politician and Rebel leader we all know she is.
