You now how when you're like, "I really need to do some major pruning on my overgrown hedges" but then after like 30 minutes, you're over it and thinking "This sucks. I could be reading right now..."

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Im impressed you made it through 30 minutes. I give up way before then. 😂 (edited) 7y
Oryx That is the reason why only three quarters of my garden fence has been painted... 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa That's when I stick in the headphones and listen to an audiobook! 7y

britt_brooke I'm sweating just looking at this photo. 7y
saresmoore Hedge trimming is probably the worst. Well, then there's weed pulling. 🤔 Meh, 30 minutes is a good effort! 7y
Scurvygirl 😹this, to me, would be incredibly relaxing! And weeding, really anything gardening. Destruction for the sake of beauty. 7y
LauraBeth @Scurvygirl Really? I WISH this was relaxing for me. I'd love to be one of those old ladies in a cute hat, tending to my hydrangeas - but I don't find it cathartic 😐 7y
LauraBeth @saresmoore I gave it a good hour. I still have to cut the grass though 🙁 7y
LauraBeth @britt_brooke It's to hot for this nonsense 7y
LauraBeth @Riveted_Reader_Melissa For some reason I have a difficult time concentrating on an audiobook while doing yard work ☹️ 7y
LauraBeth @Oryx 😂😂😂 7y
LauraBeth @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled 😂😂 We just need to stay inside and read! 7y
Scurvygirl @LauraBeth it's not everyone's gig. When I was diagnosed five years ago, i needed an exercise that i could manage. Well four summers later and 11 raised beds and two perennial gardens have appeared in my backyard. My mom helps with the hardest work, but some days I could be out all day. 7y
Scurvygirl @LauraBeth oh and no cute old ladies hat...yet! 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @LauraBeth I find that with more serious and non-fiction books, but usually I can do a light fun read that way...some Paranormal Romance, Romance, Urban Fantasy, Fantasy, and some of the lighter Sci-Fi. Some comedian's books work good for me here too. 7y
MicheleinPhilly I often wish we had a yard so Pickles could run around but then I remember the work that goes with it. I'll stick with my city cement and take her to the dog park. 7y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Audiobook w/earbuds + yardwork= sweaty ear canals. Nope! 😥 7y
LauraBeth @Scurvygirl I'm so glad that it helps with your chronic illness! You're right - it is good exercise 😀 and your yard sounds awesome 🌼🌻🌸 I should send you a picture of my sad yard with ugly, overgrown hedges left over from the former owner for your advice 😀 7y
LauraBeth @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I'll take your advice and try something more fun - I can't remember what I tried last while working in the yard but it definitely didn't work 7y
LauraBeth @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled sweaty ear canals...😂😂 7y
LauraBeth @MicheleinPhilly when we lived in an 800 sq foot apartment in NYC: "Let's go somewhere and buy a house, with a YARD!" Us now: "We should move back to NYC or at the very least move intown and get a townhouse without a yard..." Bitsy never wants to hang out in our backyard - she wants to be inside with us and the A/C. Plus, Pickles would be lonely without being able to tramp it up with her dog park friends 7y
MicheleinPhilly @LauraBeth Exactly. Mama's little whore needs her boyfriends. And Mama needs to not mow or clip or weed. 7y
