Honey Month
Honey Month | Amal El-Mohtar
5 posts | 6 read | 5 to read
A fascinating experiment in literary synesthesia in which the scents, tastes and textures of assorted honeys are transmuted into a wordsmith's cycle of fey mischief. These bewitching poems and stories unwind a fevered world of magic and longing and young women who chance the uncanny and gain wisdom beyond their years.

Rereading The Honey Month for February. Amal's work is so evocative, so rich. Even the descriptions of the honey she's inspired by are poetry.

Not the tagged book, but a short story by the author that I half read on Strange Horizons. Maaaybe it is in this collection? Anyway, it was lovely half read by LeVar Burton on his podcast!

@Rachellynnwright informs us that this is #nationalpolinatorweek
I'm all for honey, so may I heartily recommend Amal El-Mohtar's The Honey Month. After being gifted 30 samples of honey from a beekeeper friend, Amal (who I consider a friend) wrote 30 short stories inspired by the flavours. It is nothing short of an astounding work.

What an interesting read! I really enjoyed the way she was able to describe all the honeys. These little stories will stick with me for awhile and roll around in my brain. I really love when that happens. #24in48 #hour18
