Had a nice hot bath and finished my reread of this earlier. Definitely what I needed at the moment. I love how Mirasol beats the odds. And you know, I couldn't remember if she did end up marrying anyone, at the end, somehow. But I was pleased with the actual outcome all over again! 😂

When I first read this book, I didn't love it, but it stuck in my head. Now it's a favourite, and one that always feels comforting and nourishing. Which is nice, because my anxiety's running riot now, and I could definitely use the calm comfort. There's so much world-building for such a short book, and it's lovely.

Chrissyreadit I have not read this yet but Robin McKinley is a favorite author. I hope you feel better. I have been using meditations on the Balance app for my anxiety. I do like them. 2y

A lovely little fairy tale, and well-told. It had to set up quite a complex premise, and managed that deftly. I do so love good world-building. Done right, you are effortlessly transported. This was done right. 🐝

The Kindle ebook for this book is on sale. I've not read it but I do like this author. Based on what I've read about the book it is a slow read but that's ok. 🙂
