“One cannot look into the Devil‘s eyes and expect to glimpse his soul.”
I love this series so far, I love and hate the characters but I feel like that just makes them more real. The story itself is filled with surprises and secrets that make me eager to read the next one.
I'm really happy I reread this before picking up A Sorrow Fierce and Falling cause I had forgotten EVERYTHING! This book just screwed up everything Henrietta had going positively in her life during book 1. Loved getting to see her adapt on the fly and learn who to really trust
Victorian era with superpowers and betrayals!
The upside to being sick is that I‘m plowing through this month‘s TBR.
I loved this book! As our characters hurtle towards the ultimate fight with the Ancients, I found it was hard to put the book down. My only complaint is that the author doesn‘t take the time to hash out feelings between the would-be lovers... so I end up not really caring who Henrietta ends up with. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“You are the first and only person who saw me and still cared. How could I not love you? How could I hope you would understand what need is in that kind of love?”
“When I met him in the flesh, would I find any remnants of goodness? Or had his greatness burned that humanity away?”
“When I had your friendship, I thought I could never want for anything more. But over time, I have come to feel for you beyond anything I thought I could.”
“You agree with me, don‘t you? Marriage without love is an abominable fate.”
“One cannot look into the Devil‘s eyes and expect to glimpse his soul.”
“Women‘s hearts are more complex than men‘s, I find. Less virile, less passionate, but so utterly complicated.”
This series is outstanding! Seriously, I love these characters and this story. Jessica Cluess magically combines romance and adventure to create this nail-biting Victorian fantasy. Each character has their own distinct personality that shines through in their dialogue and actions. The storyline is fast paced and had me pouring over every page to find out what happened next. APDAD didn‘t end on a cliffhanger, but I was not ready for it to end yet!
Book two deepens the saga. I‘m just as hooked as ever, and puzzling over what may come next in the prophecy.
This book was amazing!!! I feel like a team jumper however. I can pick! Team Blackwood or team mangus???
Half way through it! So much is happening.
PS: I'm reading way too many books at the same time.
Second book in the series and I‘m loving it! How much hate will I get for saying I don‘t like her with Rook🙈 I‘m team Blackwood all the way! But if they end up being related....
My latest incoming review titles. Looking forward to reading them!

It's really cold today so i'm all snuggle up on the couch with my dogs and a cup of hot chocolate with a snack. One I haven't eat in a long time. Pop tarts!
What is your favourite snack and drink?
This book wasn't perfect and had some issues but I did thoroughly enjoy the plot and the conflicts set up for the conclusion of the trilogy. Parts of it broke my heart.
I need to see how the whole "every guys loves Henrietta" trope gets played out. I do LOVE that Henrietta is the main character but not the "chosen one" and that these important characters are outsiders of the society. I adore Mariah and want to see how she grows into this role.
Magical Victorian England with a pretty cover and girl challenging gender roles. Heza!
Omg I didn't think that this series could get better but Jessica has outdone herself! She upped the magic, romance, and secrets and oh my gosh there's some big reveals in this book! And now I'm really dying to read book 3!
