Leah‘s younger brother, Jacob, disappears during their childhood. The story line changes between Leah‘s present adult life and her childhood before and after her brother‘s disappearance. The writing style is very unique and a bit difficult to follow at times. In sticking with it and practicing serious concentration skills, the story comes together. Important details are hidden in parts of the story that seemed insignificant. #MountTBR

A moving sibling story but more importantly a brilliant novel of county life rendered in a prose that is moving, intimate, & poetic

“concealed impatience” sums up my feelings towards county folk & small town living. This is also a frighteningly accurate image of a dominant trait of domestic life for county folk

I find this kind of prose tedious and overwritten. Not my cup of tea. If you like it, and are interested in this novel, please let me know in a comment below. I will be glad to pop it in the mail by the cheapest rate from Tokyo and you should have it within two months.

britt_brooke I'm from Kentucky, and should want to read this, but, nope. That page is awful. 8y

So, so good. Definitely one of the most gorgeously written books I've ever read. The prose really shows the author's keen eye & a true understanding of story through detail. Just beautiful.

MyBookLife Wow, that sounds fantastic 😍😍 (There are no emojis with hearts by the ears 😂😂) 8y

I could've hit snooze a few more times, but this book is so good it's worth getting up early for. The cat is trying to get my attention by getting on top of me, but I'm reading right meow. For real, this is one of the most gorgeously written books I've read in a long time. 😽

Gezemice love that cat. 9y
BookishFeminist That is some serious side eye. 9y
OffTheBeatenShelf.com @BookishFeminist Ha! She was saying "It was bad enough when you were holding the book and not petting me, but holding a book AND taking a picture is just too much. I demand pets right meow." ? 9y

Reading on the exercise bike. Because if I have to choose between reading and exercising I always choose reading, so it's a good thing I got an exercise bike! 😂 #booknerdproblems 📚📖🤓
