“Art is an affirmation of life, a rebuttal of death”. About 2 years ago, my pastor took a sabbatical & gave the congregation 3 books she was reading during that time. I just now read one of them. 😂 I have mixed feelings about it. There‘s some good points & quotes, & I learned more about her life. My favorite chapter was about authors who try to write for children & her belief that children are more capable than adults think. So true! 👇

I loved it. I have a lot of post it‘s in this book but that doesn‘t reflect on how much I underlined. I wish I could have known Madeleine. I want to be her friend.

Legitimately felt my heart skip a beat when I read that L‘Engle‘s childhood favorite book was my childhood favorite book.

I loved this so much. As a someone who creates and is a Christian, I felt like she was speaking right to me. I encourage artists Christian or non-Christian alike to read this. She has so many beautiful things to say about the act of creating art. 😊🎨🎨🎨🙏

Here's just a little peak at my favorite tattoo. It's a dandelion blown in the wind, from which the seeds transform into four birds in flight. It's not strictly bookish, but it represents freedom like I've only found in words.

I stayed up late last night finishing up some of the books that I started over the holiday. This is a lovely and comforting read about faith and art.

I've always loved her writing, especially because she does engage with ideas of faith. And thinking about how to blend faith and art is a good thing for me to stop and reflect on right now.
