1. I like many different kids of settings, but wherever it is I like to get a real sense of the place. That‘s more important than whether the author changes a street name or moves a park a couple blocks away.
2. It doesn‘t matter as long as the character is not flat.

so-soThis really was just so-so for me. I‘ve not read any others in the Tess Monaghan series (this is #2), but I have read at least one other Laura Lippman that I enjoyed. But this one just struck me as very mediocre. Somewhat choppy at times, I thought maybe I was listening to the abridged version, but no.
so-soI found this second installment a little disappointing. Some clunky dialog, a daft side-plot and too many scenes that were poorly glued together rather than seamlessly constructed to move the story forwards. I'll probably try one or two more, but this was not great.
I have officially lapped myself in my challenge and am 3 books away from averaging 2 books per week on the year 😮🙃📚📚📚
