A Must-Have Novel from the #1 Name in Amish Fiction The mistakes of the past haunt Lucy Flaud, who years ago stopped attending the activities for courting-age young people in her hometown of Bird-in-Hand. Now twenty-five and solidly past the age of Amish courtship, Lucy has given up any hope of marriage, instead focusing her efforts on volunteering in both the Plain and fancy communities of Lancaster County. Yet no matter how hard Lucy strives, she feels uncertain that she'll ever find redemption. Dale Wyeth has a deep mistrust of modern-day "advances" and the dependency they create. The young Englisher's interest in living off the grid is fueled further when he meets Christian Flaud, Lucy's father. Dale appreciates the self-sufficient ways of the Old Order Amish, and Christian invites him to learn more about them by staying at the family farm. As Christian and Dale grow closer, developing a father-son rapport, Lucy begins to question what Dale's being there might mean for her. Could God be testing her? Or is it possible that even the most unworthy heart--and two people from very different walks of life--can somehow find a new beginning?

When I arrived at the park today, the #LittleFreeLibrary was stocked with about twenty volumes of Amish romance. 🤷‍♀️ I pushed them to the back to make room for my additions. Interestingly, there are now two very different books called Atonement in this LFL.

Sophoclessweetheart Oh! That copy of P&P 😍😍😍 7y
Billypar 'Amish romance' eh? I think I know what kind of books these are, but part of me wants it to be an account of authentic Amish romance- meaning, the average scandalous Amish romance you'd be likely to see, but written in the same style as a regular romance 😁 7y
saresmoore @Billypar The genre defies explanation, I think. The craziest part is that there were a few different authors represented! What I‘d like to see is an Amish/supernatural romance mash-up. But seriously, why is it a thing?! 7y

saresmoore @Wanderingwithwords It‘s a lovely cover, but it‘s made of this leatherette material that I don‘t like, so I decided to pass it along. 🙂 7y
Sarah83 So many great books 😍💖 7y
Suet624 You‘ve added some lovely books. What did you think of An American Marriage? 7y
saresmoore @Suet624 I didn‘t love it. It was a quick read, but after I reflected on it a bit, I realized how disappointed I was. I think she missed a lot of opportunities for depth and richness in storytelling by making it so palatable to the masses. 7y
Suet624 Yes, I was confused by it. I wanted to like it more than I did. I enjoyed reading it but was left feeling dissatisfied. 7y
Moray_Reads Is the Sherlockian one of yours? I'm automatically drawn to anything Holmes... 7y
saresmoore @Moray_Reads All in the Photo were my contributions. I gave The Sherlockian a try and just didn‘t love it, so I moved on. But the fact that I had it tells you I‘m a sucker for anything Sherlock, too! 7y
Moray_Reads @saresmoore perhaps a library loan is in order rather than my usually ungovernable impulse to BUY NOW 7y
saresmoore @Moray_Reads Normally, I‘d support any and all book buying, but in this case, I think it‘s one to borrow first. 7y

I wanted to like this book but the characters were such judgmental assholes that I wanted to throw my book at the wall several times. This is the first time I've ever truly disliked one of her books. *SIGH*

Pickpick

This is a good story of a girl trying to deal with hurts In her past. Life can be messy, mistakes are made and relationships need healing and restoration. This book shows that there are different types of grief and that sometimes forgiving yourself is the hardest thing of all.
