Short tips and techniques to keep your house clean. Found some useful ones in there but would need to figure out the English equivalent to some of these. Not the most festive but a library hold and got a line in bingo. #WinterGames2024 55pts #HolidayBookDragons @LiseWorks

HOW I CLEAN USED BOOKS:
I've explained sticker removing a few times recently and thought I'd make a post.
1). Cleaning tools: Blow dryer, razor, rubbing alcohol, unscented wipes. Not pictured: Vacuum w/ brush attachment.
2). If books are dusty shake & vacuum. Use razor to cut away library coverings if needed
3). Remove stickers: Heat stickers with a blow dryer for 30 secs. Peel. Use sticker to dab away left over stickiness.
Cont. in comments.

beccaeve 4). Use cotton pads & rubbing alcohol to clean away stubborn smudges, old sticky from stickers someone removed poorly or weird stuck on who-knows-what. Wipe books off with unscented hand or baby wipes to clear away dirt, smudges, goo, dust, etc. Let dry. 8y
beccaeve Note on papery/textured books: Don't wipe down these books. If you must remove smudges, try scraping with a razor blade, sanding with a nail file or rubbing with a kneaded eraser. 8y
beccaeve Note on cleaning in general: I work for a used bookseller and love buying used books. I've found these tricks to work best for me. Use common sense, some books have textured or rubbery covers that aren't compatible with these methods. 8y

beccaeve Note on blow dryers: I use low heat, especially on glossy/rubbery covers, which can melt under high heat. Sometimes more than 30 seconds is required. 8y

beccaeve @Booksandcooks You're welcome 😊 8y
398.2 Love this! Stickers are a worst. 8y
[DELETED] 69569662 Interesting! Although I think I'd end up water warping the pages tho! I usually put a sticker I like on top of the unwelcome sticker 😝 8y
beccaeve @398.2 They are! I'll go to some pretty great lengths to get rid of them. 8y
beccaeve @Tryin2BeNew Yeah, that why I use the wipes (they aren't wet enough to warp the paper) or the thin cotton pads with just a little alcohol. I've totally put a sticker over the unwelcome stickers I haven't been able to remove, though! Sometimes it's the best that can be done 🙂 8y
[DELETED] 69569662 I am going to try this 8y
