In 2014 the NYT called for haiku submissions on the city. They received almost 3000 entries and published their 150 favorites. A few were poignant, a lot were funny. It was like reading a little microcosm of the city, but I didn‘t love it. Contemporary poetry is the one thing I often have to buy if I want to read a specific volume since the library doesn‘t have everything, but I‘m not sure this one will make it into my permanent collection.
