In 2014 the NYT called for haiku submissions on the city. They received almost 3000 entries and published their 150 favorites. A few were poignant, a lot were funny. It was like reading a little microcosm of the city, but I didn‘t love it. Contemporary poetry is the one thing I often have to buy if I want to read a specific volume since the library doesn‘t have everything, but I‘m not sure this one will make it into my permanent collection.

A great dip into a collective impression of NYC from all those who live there. I was previously not much of a fan of haiku but I love combining them into one long extended thematic poem. (I read this in 2018 but didn‘t get a chance to post)

2018 started with a Barnes and Noble visit: graphic novels, poetry collections, and picture books!

I‘d be more concerned with not knowing what book is being read! 😂

Odes to that metropolis, seventeen syllables at a time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
