Oops I forgot about Litsy again

But hey on the bright side I got a new book. Little beat up but it was discounted and I‘m a sucker for a short story collection

I‘m having trouble sticking with anything I am currently reading, so I‘m going to give this one a go. Wish me luck. #Bailey is short-sheeting my bed for me. Rotten dog. #dogsoflitsy #pitbullsoflitsy #readingbuddy #sundaysnuggles

Melissa_J At least Bailey looks somewhat contrite about it 😂 5y
DGRachel @Melissa_J 😂 That‘s her #sorrynotsorry face, which can also be translated as “why u whining, mom?” 🤣🤣 5y
Leftcoastzen Bailey is so adorable!short sheeting not fair though.😀 5y

“I know every single tree in the garden; especially The weeping willow next to the swimming pool. If I wrap my arms around it as I used to, I am sure it will recognize me.”

I have a stack of TBR books that is impossibly high😱...but I‘m not going to think about it. Just going to start this one tonight and go one page at a time. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Pickpick

Some of the stories are just beautiful (The Great Lady of My Soul 💛🌌) others will stay with me (Nooo! What happened to the Pomegranate Lady???), others are a little odd, unsettling, amusing or just ok.

BUT this is a gorgeous book if you want to get a feel for pre-revolutionary Iran, and effects of the early days of the revolution on daily life in Tehran. And the reality of life in exile - Separation, worry, airline flights, repeat.

rockpools And finally a book of short stories written by a woman for #readharder 7y
EvieBee You had me at Tehran. ❤️ 7y
rockpools @EvieBee84 😊If you have any other Tehran-based books to recommend, I'm open to suggestions! 7y
EvieBee @RachelO My most favorite one is Not Without My Daughter followed by 7y

Catching up on #readingwomenmonth with the #shortstorycollection I'm in the middle of at the mo. It's taking me a while because I've not been reading much, rather than any problems with the book. The first story veered from farce (old lady with frying pan incident) to making me cry. So that covers all bases!

Returned 5 books to the library yesterday, and came out with just one. I'm putting it down as an achievement!

This will be my third attempt at a collection of short stories written by a woman for #readharder. I've always found short stories quite difficult, so maybe I'm just super-particular - or incredibly rubbish at choosing them.

This is by an Iranian writer, and translated from the Persian. Fingers crossed!

TheKidUpstairs I've always had troubles with short stories too. Even collections from some of my favourite authors have failed to convert me. 7y
rockpools @TheKidUpstairs I thought I'd cracked it last year - read a couple of things I loved. But this year - meh, no! (edited) 7y

Abailliekaras I'm doing Fen by daisy Johnson for #readharder ... Likewise I don't read as many short stories, but hers are strong. 😊 7y
rockpools @batsy Isn't it just? ❣️ 7y
rockpools @Abailliekaras I hadn't heard of that, but it sounds good. I'll look out for it - thanks. 7y
Lindy If you strike out with this, I suggest stories by either Alice Munro or Mavis Gallant. 7y
rockpools @Lindy Thanks Lindy. I'm sure Alice Munro is an author I should have read, and I've seen Mavis Gallant around lots recently. I'll stack some to remind me. The ones I really liked last year were 7y
rockpools @Lindy and the first name the blurb for that mentions is Alice Munro! 7y
