panI‘m giving this 1.5⭐️ only because there were two very good stories - one by P. Djeli Clark and one by Fonda Lee. The rest of the stories range from dull to simply terrible. A very disappointing read as witchy books are some of my favorite reads.

Those 4 were my favorite stories. There were some stories I didn‘t like as much. It makes me wonder why they were included in this anthology. Like any collection there are hits and misses. More hits this time.
pickThis was definitely a cover buy. A solid collection of horror themed short stories. I don't usually care for short stories, but some of these were quite good.
pickAs with all anthologies some are great and others not so much. But overall a good collection.

1.A major joy was that a close relative's medical. Emergency ended up being less major than we feared.

It should be no surprise that Jeff Strand‘s story was my favorite. Funny man!

so-soUltimately a very uneven collection of stories - when they are good, they are very good but otherwise it was a bit of a slog 😔 THAT COVER THO!!
But since I‘ve discovered some new to me authors - I think it was time well spent. I‘m quite looking forward to reading more from Darcie Little Badger and Tade Thompson.

I‘m in love with the concept, and there are some great names on the list, but somehow this has still been languishing on my TBR for a few years.
pickLong book with quite a variety of stories short and long. Some are better than others and some are a bit odd. Mostly really good. Many have a Southern locale and somewhat autobiographical. One is about Dachau camp and the last is in Jerusalem. Worthwhile.
