I really enjoyed this fantasy novel set in a tiny rural village. As well as a large number of interesting characters and creatures, Czerneda gives us magic, dragons, romance and pies. 🥧

StaceyKondla A fellow Bookcrosser!! And Julie Czerneda is truly a fantastic author 😊 6y
kwmg40 @StaceyKondla I‘m mathgirl40 at BookCrossing. A number of Calgary BC books have come my way in the past years. 😀 Also, as much as I like Julie Czerneda‘s fantasy, I‘m even more excited about trying her sci-fi books! 6y
StaceyKondla @kwmg40 - I'm Minerva101 and we've swapped many books! Happy to connect with you here on Litsy 😊 6y
kwmg40 @StaceyKondla Yes, definitely wonderful to connect with long-time BookCrossing friends! 6y

Oh epic fantasy by women writers, how I love you. This one is actually funny. It is also 822 pages. And there's an interesting love triangle. I am enjoying it.

Epic secondary world fantasy with the usual save-the-world stakes but a tight character/location focus, and a strong emphasis on kindness. Plus neat magic and a whole bunch of unique fantastic creatures. More please.

#booktober #ilikebigbooks I've been savouring this one but I'm into the less-than-200-pages-to-go-shit-is-hitting-the-fan homestretch now
