I enjoyed the majority of the short stories. My favorites are: The Postman by David Brin(always has been), Patient Zero by Tananarive Due, and Advertising at the End of the Word by Kerry R.M. Kehrli. If you enjoy dark post apocalypse fiction you‘ll like this.

The end of the world has not made you a believer. The end of the word has.

There is such a thing as survivor's guilt, even at the end of the world, even after the end of the world is over. But don't worry. Like everything else, this too shall pass.

Safety at the cost of new experiences tastes like stale, unleavened bread.

....There's a chance that she'll be waiting for me at the end of the road.

Wishful thinking, but hell. Everybody's allowed a little wishful thinking after they've survived the end of the world.

- Animal Husbandry (Seanan McGuire)

It's hard to imagine following up something like the end of the world.

But fans of #postapocalyptic fiction know that end-of-the-world stories aren't really about *the end*--they're about new beginnings and the end of the world *as we know it*. Our stories, our lives, our world continues on, even if the trappings change and the facade of civilization falls by the wayside....

"...remember that you can retain your humanity if you continue to be humane."

This entire story feels eerily predictive considering current events. But this line is something I want to remember, always; apocalypse or not.

Switching to #postapocalyptic #shortstories for the wee hours of this #readathon. Stumbled across one by George R. R. Martin in the collection!
