The Readers' Choice: 200 Book Club Favorites | Victoria Golden McMains
6 posts | 1 read
Here are two hundred reader-tested answers to the question "What have you read that's good?" The Readers' Choice is the first book to feature titles based on the recommendations of numerous book clubs. Victoria McMains has collected two hundred favorites of more than seventy reading groups nationwide, ideal for book group members looking for a "good read," busy people seeking enjoyable books outside the bestseller lists, or anyone who wants to read more but isn't sure where to start. Combining her skills as a book reveiwer and a veteran book group member, McMains provides brief, captivating profiles of a diverse mix of fiction and nonfiction. There are love stories and war stories, fantasy and political intrigue, biography and nature-and much more. Each profile highlights the unique traits of the book and ends with a few questions for group favorites as well as little-known gems that have been discovered and treasured. Indexes organize the entries by title and subject matter, helping readers find books that appeal to their interest. For anyone wanting to learn the easy essentials of starting a book club, check out McMains's introduction. Let The Readers Guide help you make the most of the precious time you spend reading?

📕Absolutely! I try not to judge books by their covers, but sometimes they are just so pretty!😍
📗Definitely! Back porch deck in fair weather, front screen porch in the rain - reading out there during summer thunderstorms is 👌🏻⛈
📘Chapter-finisher 4-lyfe! 😝
📙I used to be a “use whatever slip of paper is handy” reader, but I discovered magnetic page clip bookmarks, & haven‘t looked back!
🖐🏻I played along, who else wants to?
@SilversReviews

SilversReviews Definitely LOVE those magnetic clips. Thanks for playing. 6y
Pamwurtzler Ditto the #porchenvy! 6y
LadyChristy @TheLibrarian & @Pamwurtzler We moved from an apartment with zero outdoor space to a duplex rental with a front screen porch, a back deck porch, and a yard to garden & relax in and I‘m in heaven! 😍 6y

Time for some sleep. Words are just swimming in front of my eyes now and I've lost all ability to make sense of them. (Then again, it is D. H. Lawrence at his most nonsensical wordiness so I'm not sure sleep will help. 😆) #24in48

vivastory @rohit-sawant It was a great month. Have you read the entire Bill Hodges trilogy? 7y
vivastory @saresmoore It seems like i had a few more in May i rated as 5 stars. Typically i have around 7-8 per month 7y
Cinfhen Woohoo 🙌🏻 fantastic month 7y
RohitSawant @vivastory I still have to read the two following Mr. Mercedes. I think I might take my time getting through the trilogy, kind of ration it. I love those characters, especially Holly and Jerome, and wish there were more than three books! 7y
Sarah83 sounds really great 😉🖒 7y
vivastory @rohit-sawant "Mr. Mercedes" should have a warning on it for how insanely addictive it is. I read it in 2 days. I am tempted to read the others soon, but i think it will be better to stretch it out 7y
RohitSawant @vivastory Haha, you‘re so right about how addictive it is. I‘m hopeful the TV adaptation will be just as good. I was psyched when I learned they cast Penny Dreadful‘s Harry Treadaway as Brady Hartsfield. 7y
vivastory @rohit-sawant That was great casting, sad how it came about. Originally Anton Yelchin was cast for the part. 7y
RohitSawant @vivastory I missed the news about Anton Yelchin being the first choice. He would've done a terrific job. His passing is such a loss. 7y
vivastory @rohit-sawant Did you see The Green Room? It's amazing 7y
RohitSawant @vivastory Thanks for reminding me about it. I read about it awhile ago and have been meaning to watch it since. 7y
Suet624 It's amazing to me that you can read that many books in a month!!! 7y
rachellayown That's an amazing month! 7y
vivastory @rachellayown I was incredibly happy with it. I didn't realize i had read that amount until i started looking at goodreads 7y
rachellayown Yeah, sometimes I'm surprised, too. I need to get over to Goodreads and figure out how much I read. 7y
