This was a good one.
A boy names KJ gets murdered in his bedroom, and his mom also gets hurt. Then the babysitter of KJ goes missing.
Could someone in their town be doing this?
It kept me guessing who it is, and then the big surprise at the end, who actually did the crimes.
Love books that keep you guessing, the go WOW when you find your totally not in the direction the book was taking you
Just finished up with a big project at work and able to turn my attention back to #scarathlon2021! Starting off with The Boy in my lunch break, and I‘m also hoping to finish Run, River today on audiobook. The Boy is quite slow so far but well acted and the premise is weirding me out so deeply and bizarrely

This was a Christmas present last year and an author i had not tried before but will happily rd again. Altho 2nd in the series it read easily with 2 central strong characters nick fourcade + annie broussard detectives in a louisiana cajun town where a child is violently killed as the mother escapes. Sometimes a bit clunky in prose but definitely a page turner which had me gripped to the last few pages with lots of tension.
This is Hoag‘s best IMO, but it is also her hardest to read, subject wise. Abuse on children, murder of children and abusive relationships are examined, while a small town tries to hold it together under unprecedented tragedy. While the crime(s) were a main focus, Hoag, this time, put more emphasis on the survivors, and the Detectives that must face these tragedies on a daily basis.
I also didn‘t realize the bookmark I had chosen. 😭
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of my first mysteries was Tami Hoag, with the characters Nick Fourcade and Annie Broussard. It is like coming home to see them featured again in her latest!
Also, my welcome sign which has caught a few ppl off guard 😂
Almost finished with this one...
Heart-wrenching but impossible to put down.
Wonderfully written.

At first I avoided this book due to the subject matter (harm comes to children) but I was persuaded to give it a try. It is a fast paced police mystery with excellent characters.
This was a slooooowwwwww read. Most of what you needed to know was in the later half. I think this could have been a pick! if some of it was cut out 🤷🏻♀️
I enjoyed Hoag‘s plot, I certainly found it to be a page turner and was enthralled from beginning to end. What I always enjoy about Hoag is her writing, which seems effortless, I love the journey of getting to that uh-huh moment. I strongly recommend this book.
I liked this book quite a bit. I love that it takes place in Louisiana on the bayou. I feel her writing improves with each book. This is a great story that kept me guessing. I did not get bored or sidetracked at all, really held my interest. A good story.
I‘ve waited sooooo long for this book!!! It was amazing. A little boy is murdered and his injured mom ends up being a suspect. Then his 12 year old babysitter goes missing. There are so many twists and turns in this book I didn‘t know where it was headed. The ending didn‘t disappoint. So, so good. Would highly recommend!!!! 💜💜💜
This was my first by her, and I don‘t know why! I loved it.. It seems like a lot of pages going in and then *poof* they‘re gone! Parallels to Karin Slaughter for me, with the great writing that makes you want to just keep reading and reading! 👍🏻
Back to my book 🙃🙂👏🏻! I have high hopes of finishing this tonight.. 🤞🏻🍸
I like this book 😚! It got me through the treadmill this morning, but unfortunately it won‘t get me through the grocery store, so it‘s break time ☹️
I was recently gifted wine glasses with my workplace/library etched into them * CLUTCH ! * 🥂
I have this one from #netgalley and the library.. I suppose I had better get on with it! I hope it‘s good 🤞🏻
