⭐️⭐️⭐️ Metallica was formed the year I was born (1981) and I became a fan by default because of my older brother. He and I saw them live recently and, in a burst of nostalgia, I picked up this biography. Central to their story is bassist Cliff Burton‘s wholly devastating death in 1986; something they never really recovered from even with their massive success. Mick Wall gets bogged down in the minutiae, but it‘s a fascinating history.

Prairiegirl_reading This brought back a clear memory for me. My friend and I went to Minneapolis to see Metallica and GNR. We had no idea there was a wicked storm happening and we could hear thunder but we both totally thought it was part of the show! Lol! 5y

britt_brooke @Prairiegirl_reading I‘ve been listening to them that long! My brother was always blasting them from his room so I had no choice (but I always liked them). Just hadn‘t been to a show yet. 😁 It was pretty badass. He sprung for good seats. 5y

🤘🏻Metallica!! ⚡️Saw them last night with my brother who has been a MASSIVE fan since the 80s. I can remember him constantly blaring them from his bedroom. I became a fan by default (no complaints). They put on a fantastic show!

❓- Has anyone read the tagged Metallica biography? I‘m thinking about reading it soon.

BethM Yeah it was nice. My only complaint was the lack of big screens so If you were higher it was harder to see. 5y

so-so

I learned a bit about the history of Metallica but the author could have cut this book by a third.

It was very wordy and didn't have as much information from the band as I would have liked, he does go into detail about the inspirations for each band member.

I look forward to reading more about the band, this book just falls flat.

I'd like one where the band are completely involved.

That being said, I love Metallica! 🤘

Love rocking out to one of the first rock albums that I bought in middle school. My tastes have become a lot heavier and eclectic over time, but still love this music 🎶

3/5⭐️ A good biography about a good band! It could have been a little shorter, but it's still a book worth reading if you like Metallica. Read in February 2017.
