The Turncoat's Gambit
The Turncoat's Gambit | Andrea Cremer
8 posts | 6 read | 5 to read
What if America had lost the Revolutionary War? And now lived in constant fear and oppression? From the bestselling author of Nightshade, this is the action-packed final chapter of The Inventor's Secret trilogy Charlotte has spent her whole life fighting the British Empire, following in the footsteps of her parents and their group of rebels. But when her reunion with her mother laid bare horrible truths about the rebellion, Charlotte knew she had to escape. Now she is on the run, with no idea who the enemy is--or which of her compatriots is truly on her side. In this action-packed conclusion to the Inventor's Secret trilogy, full of swashbuckling pirates and young ladies who can hold their own against them, Charlotte will need to fight for her life and for her beliefs -- whatever they might be. Praise for The Turncoat's Gambit: "As in the previous two volumes, there is plenty of fighting and chicanery, but one of the best things about this series is that the characters are never sacrificed on the altar of action. . . . Series readers will especially relish the last several chapters. Yes, there is fighting and death, but restoration and romance win the day."--Booklist Praise for The Conjurer's Riddle: "This is classic steampunk [with] exotic and picturesque locales, lots of interesting machinery, and the adrenaline rush of following the adventures of an honest and fearless heroine. A suitably swashbuckling sequel."--Kirkus Reviews Praise for The Inventor's Secret: * "Cremer...creates an inventive blend of steampunk and alternative history in this new series. She gives readers a fantastical world with mechanical wonders and an opulent vintage setting. The characters are interesting and well developed. Readers will be drawn to future installments."--VOYA, starred review "[A]n entertaining romp in a richly imaginative setting."--Kirkus Reviews From the Hardcover edition.

This proved a good end to thetrilogy, though the last few chapters felt rushed. I'll update this post when I write my full review.

Had a pretty epic #DollarTree #bookhaul. A few are sequels of books I don't own yet, but were on my TBR and I couldn't pass up the $1 each. Plus the Hunted has black spayed pages.

Cinfhen Love #DollarTree 👍🏻💚😀 6y
LibrarianRyan @Cinfhen I normally do but this one was Nasty with a Capitol N. so gross and some of the worst customer service EVER. Enough so that I wrote a complaint to corporate because this wasn't the first time for this experience. 6y
MommyOfTwo Hunger games cookbook, that would be interesting 6y

Cinfhen It‘s interesting u say that because it‘s very true, I‘ve been in a few and it‘s such a vast difference in certain areas how the stores are maintained and the level of service. I will NOT go back to certain stores again, even if the books were free!!! (edited) 6y
LibrarianRyan @Cinfhen I have avoided this store for months. I normally go to the one next to the grocery store as they always have great books. This one is next to Josh's fav Chinese restaurant and he wanted to have some time with the guys for a drink before we left so I thought I would give it a shot. Almost big mistake. Almost. It's a Super Dollar Tree. 6y
Cinfhen I don‘t think I‘ve been to the #SuperDollarTree 6y
Cinfhen I‘m guessing it‘s bigger and more like a market?? 6y
LibrarianRyan @Cinfhen besides being more filthy and more crammed there is no difference that I can see. 6y
LibrarianRyan @Cinfhen no. Actually it's one of the smaller spaces. No wide open browsing areas etc. the DT next to my house is more like a market but they don't carry books. I wish I knew the difference but no one can tell me what it is. 6y
Cinfhen Odd, to be called Super!! Sounds terrible 😖😖😖 6y
CSeydel To me “super” implies they sell groceries? Like Super Target? 6y
RainyDayReading Totally guilty of picking up sequels to books I don‘t even own from the Dollar Store 🙈 I actually just picked up The Conjurer‘s Riddle from there the other day and I think that‘s the book right before Turncoat‘s Gambit 😅 6y
LibrarianRyan @RainyDayReading it is. Luckily I already had those. This book is hardcover and my others are paperback but for a buck who cares right. I'm so bad about it that I have by missing previous vales purchases seperate and only shelve them once compleate or in order. 6y
LibrarianRyan @CSeydel they do. But even the standard stores sell groceries. I think it depends on the neighborhood. 6y
Kar2b I wish it was easier to know which Dollar Tree has large book selections and which do not. They vary so much! The best one I know of is by my work, so I try to go once or twice per month. I‘ve found many on my TBR, some even signed! 6y
LibrarianRyan In my town the DT that sells the best books s in the best neighborhood. This one I went to was a rarity for them to gave books do I went at an overture time. 6y
Kar2b Interesting. The one that has the best book selection near me (out of the 10 or so I‘ve been to) is surrounded by lots of retirement apartments. In the other locations, the book selection is slim! 6y

Here's the surprise free book I picked up! Has anyone read this or heard of it? It appears to be part of a series, I'm wondering if I need to read the other books first... It does look interesting!

Amandajoy @jmtrivera @drokka @RanaElizabeth I don't want to leave you guys hanging! 😉 7y
RanaElizabeth I guessed Everfair! I am so wrong! 7y
jmtrivera Haha, I never would have guessed this! Thanks for ending the suspense! 😁 7y

A damned good finish to a damned good trilogy! Gah I almost wish it wasn't over! I will admit to being mad about one thing but I'll get over it...eventually lol
