'I adored this book!' Ruth Hogan, author of The Keeper of Lost Things. A gorgeous, laugh-out-loud story of friendship, family and forgiveness. The perfect book club read for fans of A Man Called Ove, A Boy Made of Blocks and The Rosie Project. A man who has given up on the world. A family who show him how to live. Forty-something Thomas is very happy to be on his own, far away from other people and their problems. But beneath his grumpy exterior lies a story and a sadness that is familiar to us all. And he's about to encounter a family who will change his view of the world... for good. 'An unashamedly feel-good story.' Miranda Dickinson 'Sheer joy.' Lucy Diamond 'A much-needed antidote for these worrying times.' Julie Cohen 'A moving, funny, absorbing hot chocolate of a story.' Daniela Sacerdoti 'Exactly what everyone needs right now.' Rachael Lucas WHAT READERS ARE SAYING ABOUT CALLING MAJOR TOM 'A delightfully quirky book!' 'Brilliant!' 'Wonderful and life affirming' 'Totally unforgettable'

I was skeptical when I first started reading Calling Major Tom, and had a hard time getting into it. But it turns out, I shouldn't have worried! Calling Major Tom turned out to be amazing – it had me sighing with contentment after I finished it (literally – it was so wholesome!) Here's the full review: http://bit.ly/2HywAbp

I didn‘t see that coming! Honestly, this started off kind of slow for me, but then, suddenly I was all in and not disappointed at all. Hadn‘t expected much, but it delivered a warm, engaging, action-packed, nail-biting story. Had to root for Gladys (Nan), James, Ellie, Thomas Major, aka Major Tom, as well as Delil and Claudia. It took a one-way mission to Mars and a wrong number to tell this story. Would recommend. 😊😊😊

SW-T Calling Major Tom also answers the age old question about lighting a match to farts in space. 🤔 (edited) 6y

So when I texted my husband to tell him I had made it to Lynchburg for my son‘s track meet, I neglected to mention that “I‘m here” actually meant I was at the local independent bookstore since the kid doesn‘t vault for a couple of hours. Shhhhh! Don‘t tell on me!

GripLitGrl 😄🤣😂Love it 6y
Elizabeth2 That‘s awesome! Enjoy! 6y

I enjoyed this book. It was an interesting story and the characters were very likeable.
I did think a few things that happened at the end were a bit cheesy, had me rolling my eyes a bit and saying "oh, of course!" out loud to my kindle... but overall a very enjoyable book. I'm glad I read it.

There's a character in the book, a Russian named Sergei. His nickname is The Meerkat and there are a few moments in the book where he says "simples" ... oh how I love it!!!
