Thank you for this interesting list, @DebinHawaii! I've read a few already and some, like the four on the right, you might have plucked from my TBR.

I'm looking forward to getting to them in January (and probably throughout next year).

#AuldLangSpine @monalyisha

BennettBookworm Epic list!! 14h
willaful @BennettBookworm Really is! 13h
LeeRHarry Loved The Feather Thief. 😊 10h

Just curious... what reading challenges are y'all doing next year,? I'm still working on the 50 states, 50 horror books (50 percent complete); the past couple of years I have been slightly intrigued by the 52 book club challenge and I've knocked off a few new favorites I might not have otherwise... but I'm thinking '26 will be challenge/prompt free.As a mood reader, it's just so hard to commit!

TEArificbooks I have always done too many challenges and the reading starts to feel like “required” reading and there is no time for mood reading. So this year and next year I am participating when I feel like it. I‘m definitely going to participate in #USPresidents as I cohost. Also love #naturalitsy #themedcozies #foodandlit 15h
vivastory @TEArificbooks As a mood reader, I definitely endorse mood reading 📚📚😀 15h
Ruthiella I will definitely do #TBRTarot and #Roll100 because both help me read either what I already own or books I keep meaning to read but never prioritize. I will also do #ChuncksterChallege2026 and #AllergictoChunksters, but only when a TBR book happens to meet the criteria. 15h
See All 22 Comments
Dilara On Litsy, I'll continue with #foodandlit. I'll also follow #naturalitsy but I'm more of a lurker than an active member. On LibraryThing, I do the Global Challenge (read 5 books from every country - that's more of a lifetime endeavour) and an informal Nobel Prize challenge. I do better with free-form challenges, where I can read the books of my choice in the order of my choice 😁 15h
julesG I'll do 52bookclub again next year. Also Buzzword's Reading and Cover challenges because they are very low key and still tricky sometimes. 15h
vivastory I always see #tbrtarot .... can you explain it to me? @ruthiella 15h
Hooked_on_books I‘m not doing any. I‘ll be following the TOB and reading those as well as the Women‘s Prize and NBA lists, but no challenges. Though I have some thoughts about trying to get some of my mass market paperbacks read, my own little challenge. I‘m a mood reader, too. 15h
Ruthiella @cbee “pulls” a card like, read “read a book with a red cover” or “read a book by a Japanese author” and the way I do #TBRtarot is I look for a book I own that meets the criteria. If I can‘t find a match, I don‘t stress, however. 15h
AkashaVampie My memory sucks... but if u haven't tried #BookishMonopoly yet, here's ur chance. Also make sure to cater to u and what u want/have. 14h
AkashaVampie Also would love to see ur board if u do 14h
AshleyHoss820 As a fellow mood-reader, I love the BookSpin challenge that @TheAromaofBooks does every year. I‘m still doing the 1,001 books. I also found, from someone devious Litten, the Hardest Reading Challenge You‘ll Ever Do. Created by Qwordy on YouTube, it‘s a year-long challenge beginning on July 7th. It‘s so difficult, it‘s actually meant to not be completed, but instead to broaden your reading horizons. Happy reading in ‘26, no matter what you choose! 13h
Kitta I did #LGBTQIA25 which is a book bingo that has a challenge on StoryGraph and #queerbc which also has a StoryGraph challenge. There‘s #ohcanada for some Canadian reads and I‘m going to attempt the #192030 challenge. I‘m also attempting the #vivillon challenge in 2026 (reading books from different countries based on the Pokémon regions lol). 11h
Amiable @AshleyHoss820 I‘m intrigued—what makes it the hardest reading challenge ever? The number of books? The difficulty of the texts? A compressed timeframe? Inquiring minds need to know! 9h
CBee @vivastory that‘s my challenge 😊 I just pick a card (I had a deck but now make my own) and you read a book that fits the prompt. I posted this month‘s prompt Monday 👍🏻 9h
TheAromaofBooks I try to stick with challenges that are somewhat flexible or that I can use to reduce my TBR (which is comprised of books I WANT to read haha). So I've really enjoyed the #Roll100 challenge hosted by @PuddleJumper as well as #ReadorDonate by @julieclair who also hosts the #MonthlyNonfiction And @Librarybelle is getting ready to start a new five-year challenge #192030 as well!! 9h
merelybookish I am taking a break from any formal challenges but toying with trying to read mostly Canadian lit in 2026. I'm thinking of aiming for 80% so I still have room for moods or book club pics, etc. 9h
DGRachel I burned out on challenges. The only thing I will be doing next year is #bookspin and that‘s only because I like making the graphics at the beginning of each month. 🤣🤣 Well, that and it‘s so flexible it allows for space for mood reading and there‘s no pressure. 8h
RaeLovesToRead HRCYED, PopSugar, and let's see what Book Riot's Read Harder is like! Those are the main ones I think... as well as Bookspin, Roll100 etc on here 😊 7h
RaeLovesToRead I don't aim to finish though because I'm far too distractible 7h
MaleficentBookDragon I love the #Bookspin challenge by @TheAromaofBooks. I've been doing that one for years.

I also do two on #GoodReads.
The #DustyBookShelf by the Challenge Factory and #MountTBR. Here are this year's links to check out-
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_folder/476813?group_id=55345 https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1256310-mount-tbr-challenge-2025

I like all these because they are to work down my TBR & they are books I WANT to read.
6h
MaleficentBookDragon @DGRachel Me too! I have kept my Photoshop subscription just because I love making the graphics (yeah I'm a little weird). 6h
DGRachel @MaleficentBookDragon It‘s why I can‘t cancel my Canva subscription! 🤣🤣🤣 6h

Murder Most Actual | Alexis Hall

Pickpick

#ChrismasCrimeChallenge @RaeLovesToRead @Ruthiella

Chimney - locked room mystery

True crime podcaster Liza and her corporate financier wife Hanna want to spend Easter in a luxury hotel in the Scottish Highlands. Hanna planned it to rescue their marriage. It soon turns into a Murder Mystery Weekend with real victims.

Very Christie-esque, with chapter headings reminiscent of Cluedo.

RaeLovesToRead This looks cute! 3w
julesG @RaeLovesToRead It's cozy, it blends the homage to Christie (weird characters with secret connections to each other) with modern true crime podcasting and marital problems of a same sex interracial couple. It was a good read. Different from what Alexis Hall usually writes. 3w
RaeLovesToRead Is it only available on Kobo though? 3w
See All 15 Comments
julesG @RaeLovesToRead Unfortunately yes. It was less than €10 in audio and the ebook would have been less than €7 3w
Ruthiella This challenge is clearly right up your street! You are acing it! 🎄🔪💀🎅🏻 3w
julesG @Ruthiella Thank you! It's an 'excuse' to ignore #MountTBR and #MountARC 3w
RaeLovesToRead Sadly I have no Kobo :( 3w
julesG @RaeLovesToRead Neither do I. Hence I got the audiobook and then downloaded the app to listen to it. The ebook would have worked on the app as well, but I don't like reading books on my phone. 3w
RaeLovesToRead Ah, I thought I'd need a Kobo device for the audiobook! 3w
julesG @RaeLovesToRead nope, just the app. 3w
RaeLovesToRead Me looking for excuses to buy more devices 😏 3w
RaeLovesToRead *buys 3 more ereaders* it's for the CHANNEL. It's JOURNALISM! 3w
rwmg It's free on the KoboPlus subscription service. 3w
julesG @rwmg Thanks! 3w

Haven't shared my #weekendreads in a while.

Cinder House (ARC) - novella, retelling of Cinderella, but only loosely connected to the fairytale, includes queer lovestory and some spice 🌶️🌶️

City of Stairs (🎧) - it's been on #MountTBR for ages

Ladies in Hating (ARC) - two Gothic novellists w/ a past, w/ current beef, but also w/ chemistry, sapphic 🌶️🌶️🌶️

@rachelsbrittain

rachelsbrittain I adored Cinder House! Looks like a great lineup. 2mo
Bookworm54 I loved City of Stairs! Great series 2mo

#Read100

My first finished book of September, I finished this one for #FictionalTraveler #September #EnglishSpeaking & September #Roll100 #77 #AnyBOTM Overall, I enjoyed this one, although it drug in parts. The unique premise of an unmarried British woman who comes home after her friend‘s hen party to find she‘s married & her attic keeps “replacing” husbands with no end in site. Lauren made some choices I judged & thought over-the-top but ⬇️

DebinHawaii … then again, I don‘t have a husband-making attic so what do I know!🤷🏻‍♀️ Probably a 3.5 for me but it was fun & it is a debut so got me closer to finishing my #BOTM challenge. (edited) 3mo
julesG Your review is great. I'll bump the book up #MountTBR 3mo
